Infomercials

INFOMERCIALS…..  what can I say?  It’s sometimes like watching a comedy show. How many of you get suckered into this?  Hey, I admit, I sometimes think I should call. Ever see the new lipo-pill? It reduces your fact from within, never needing lipo-suction.  LOL  I was like, gee, that would be great. Then I said, “wake up Jeff. Get real.”

Infomericals arose because of the deregulation during the 80s involving television. But these originated on the radio at first. There are just countless infomercials on TV. 100's of 1,000's are made a year. But have you noticed that 99% of them are on TV from midnight until 7 am in the morning?  LOL  When many of you are either late night watchers of TV or people that just don’t have a job to even pay for these.

NBC Dateline actually did their own infomercial and aired it on their show to prove a point. Did anyone see this? It was hysterical. The end result was a pill filled with Nestle’s Quick and it was suppose to keep your skin healthy and wrinkled free.  Starling Fitness » Dateline NBC Investigates Infomercials

Here are a few other articles about infomercials. The one thing that gets to me is that I couldn’t find anything on these so-called gurus of property investors. These people that go out and buy many investment properties or properties to flip, but with no money and no credit. And they even get money back at the settlement table. If there were programs like this and if it was that easy, we all would be doing it. Hell, I am in the mortgage industry. Besides, we had a local TV station do a segment on this. They went to one of these seminars and had to pay $300 for a set of discs. But when they got to the end of it, they had to buy another set just to find out the results of how to do this.

Kristal....Sure, they keep making money. That's why anyone does it.... but the public is so mis-informed and that is the reason why. Did you read the article in regards to NBC and their infomercial? The 8 people that they had test this product, one of them actually thought it still helped.... lol After she told that this was not a real pill. The others?  They started to change their answers.... they were all Actors & Actresses... LOL  How funny.... but so sad.

Infomericals are addictive to watch.  I hate watching them, but I still do.  I bought the Magic Bullet, the Gazelle, the Lateral Thigh Stepper, and an ab roller over the past 10 years... they work!

I would never buy the miracle weight loss pills or skin stuff or anything like that.

I was shocked to find out that the testimonials are not just a stretch of the truth but that they have absolutely no truth in them whatsoever.

Hard to watch 1/2 hour of a Ginzu knife, and they throw in a free car for only $19.99 (not including shipping and handling). :^)

I personally do not watch them as I am of the belief, 'if it sounds too good to be true......it is'.

Donna ........ sure, some of the excersize gagdets work, but not all..... but yes, it's getting crazy. And the miracle loss pills...the face thingy pills.... LOL  And if you think you are shocked about the testimonials, read that article from about NBC. When I saw that segment on TV, I was crying laughing. These people just act and sell the product that they nothing about and for the most part, haven't even tested it yet. So illegal, but it's TV....and done out WEST... lol

Rob...  you had my laughing, about throwing the car in there....  I agree...if it sounds too good to be true, then it usually ism not IS... usually...

Has anyone seen my new mortgage infomercial?  No money down, No closing costs 1% rate fixed for 30 years and I will even through in a deluxe beach condo for free!

Just kidding...made you look though, didn't I.

I watch them when I cannot sleep and don't have anything to blog about.

I just can't believe how much money they make. And I saw that NBC show also that night. Talk about fraud in the certain sense.

How can I start a infomercial?  lol

I once had a guy call me to help him find an investment property. He said he wanted to interview me first. I met him at a local restaurant. He had his 'coach' with him. His story: He saw a real estate investment infomercial, bought the program for $3000. It included 4 hours with a 'coach'.

While they were interviewing me, future investor guy lets out that he has a FICO below 500 and the 'coaching' plan involves me waving my commission for future interests in the 'big picture'. I was laughing so hard that the waiter thought I was chocking.

I think folks get all wrapped up in the "scenery"...watch and then feel as if they are ready to do business. Luckily, I have NOT run into any of them ...

Tracy....  $3,000?   lol  And then to waive your commission?  LOL  How about this so called coach waiving his $3,000 or just sell it for $500.

Jane Anne....  luckily....but being a lender....it just cracks me up. They make all of these promises...especially the cash back at settlement.... yes, it can happen, but it's  less than 1% of all total settlements out there...

Jeff - There was a brief moment after I left where I considered doing infomercials about not getting taken by infomercials.

Tracy.......  that would be a good one. Did you read the NBC article or actually see this on TV? It was on about 2 1/2 weeks ago. Kind of like a political commercial. Why not to vote for this person.
