The Holiday Process:

1.  Make a list and check it twice

2.  Gather and put up all the decorating items

3.  Shope for all the perfect gifts

4.  Creating a letter summarizing the year

5.  Sending cards to important family, friends and connections

6.  Organizing in your calender MANY social events so you can attend them all

7.  Cleaning for entertainment

8.  Shopping for the entertainment food

9.  Cooking for the entertainment

10. Recovery for the season

The holiday season from Thanksgiving till January 2nd, is only about 45 days.

Think about how much time and energy goes into those 45 days and how the power of spending that same amount of time on 365 days might rock your world in 2010.

                                    Target

Any plan starts with the list... So create a list of things you would like to work on and then break them down into steps that need to be taken to achieve them. Remember.. you can't love your neighbor, until you love yourself..  planning to help yourself is NOT selfish, it is a MUST to have balance.

This week make a list like this so you can really break it down and FOCUS with a specific plan for each catagory!

1.  Family

2.  Health

3.  Finances

4.  Personal Development

5.  Business Plans

6.  Philanthropy

7.  Love

8.  Education

9.  Career

10. Exit Plan

Homework till next time! Create your refrigerator list!refrigerator list

What is a refrigerator list?

The list of people who are so comfortable at your home they will go to your refrigerator and get something to drink without dismay...

Why the refrigerator list?  These are the people who are going to help you achieve your goals if you ask them.  They love you and all you have to do is ask and share a plan with them...

So start thinking.

I posted a comment on my facebook page about a refrigerator list and one person said she did not have any friends which would come over and go in her refrigerator.. At first glance I thought that was very sad but then my comment back was.. start inviting some friends over... if she didn't have someone over, how could they feel comfortable to go in her refrigerator for something to drink.

To me, it is like the lessons we learn in activerain,  You have to reach out and touch someone if you want them to touch you back.

Basically like commenting on posts in activerain.. we help each other out by sharing our ideas everyday. It is a bilateral arrangement.....

There is not a day goes by I don't learn something new by reading posts in activerain and all the comments!

The comments take the lesson in the post to the next level!

I am looking forward to more learning together in 2010!

This is a fantastic idea! We really do need a support system in place for us to be held accountable for our goals! I think I may have TOO MANY people comfortable enough to scrounge around in my fridge! But I do know they ALL will help me stay on track with my goals!

Carra - I always accomplish more with list but don't write them often enough. Great tips, now if I can only train myself to do it (lol). This year I promise to do better with my list :)

Stephanie,

How wonderful your friends feel so at ease with you!  Those really are the people who will help find referrals for you.. Just let them know once you get on track.. how many lisitngs you want to take each week.. for a monthly goal.. now many houses you need to sell each month..It sounds like you have a group of friends who might like to have a celebration party with you if you do make the goals... I am not sure if camping is your thing.. but maybe a special camping trip for all of you.. or a trip to Vegas.. or ???? Sometimes I have set goals with my family.. and there was a family trip if I did a certain volume.. that way they were encouraging the time with customers and clients... to help meet the goal.. interaction... really does help and I think you see that.

Dianne,

There was a Harvard Study done on Harvard Grads....those with written specific goals made 1,000 time more than those with no goals... those with goals but not written made 100 time more than those with no goals... so there is something to be said about writing them down.. and working in a direction each day when you get up.  I KNOW it works.. and many books written on the subject say the same thing... write them down!  We take the time to write extensive lists for the holiday preparation and for going on vacation.. that same passion should be utilized for achieving business goals.

Great way of stating that if time was the only issue of keeping you from doing your 2010 biz plan - then look at how much time one spends on getting 'ready' for the holidays or for that matter anything else one really likes and enjoys.  I too agree it's so important to get it down in writing! I see so many agents that resist this thing called a 'biz plan'. Currently several folks in my office are making all kinds of excuses as to why the first part (or our 4 part biz plan) isn't done yet.  And I say you can't move on to the 2nd part till you deal with the 1st part.  I'll send them your 4 posts and see if that shakes the resistance out of them!  Miracles do happen!

I too love the cow Terry sent you!  It's darling!

Anna,

Goal setting is a process.. kind of like chemistry.. you have to know the fundamental elements to build on anything!

I have a Disney Board I worked with agents.. Starts out with the main goal.. then headers.. those are the categories above and then sub headers on how you are going to get the things done.. then you put in a time frame and the steps you have to take to achieve the goal.. same process every year.. we called it the box page because it was just boxes and you filled them in.. I had an agent who went a different direction in a different part of town and would call me every year to discuss her boxes.. I am thinking I should be getting a call from her any time now!  lol.. I should tell her she needs to join activerain this year!

So girlfriend you send them the pages... I think the Harvard Study that documented the lawyers who had written specific goals upon graduation made 1000 times what the lawyers who had no goals made.. and those who had goals but not written made 100 time more than those without goals...

Look at any successful person... Toni Robbins, Donald Trump.... they have SPECIFIC WRITTEN GOALS... broken down by month, by week and then by day.. to get where they want to go.

It's not rocket science if you want to list 3 houses a month and sell 3 houses a month.. just make a plan and work the plan.... Each year or even month the plan could change as interest rates change.. and prices change.. the external factors.. out in the Cosmos... change what we have to do.. so having a plan B,C or even D when plan A isn't working has to be part of the mix.

Terry's cow rocks! Thanks

I like to think first of the overall goals and then plan the steps required to make these goals possible.  Enlisting others to help can be a great prod to insure that you are doing the daily tasks.

I am so happy you can use it as a point of reference.. each person will have their individual needs and hopefully you can see it as just a basis to start thinking about the big picture.   I know you will come up with the perfect plan for you! Happy New Year!

Carra, I have broken down my goals in these categories before. i learned it from Bill Gouldd a multi level marketing guy when I was in High school, some of the best changes in my life happened as a result of this kind of life categorizing.
