I recently ran into one of my preferred lenders at a retirement luncheon for a mutual friend of ours. We have been saying that we should look into refinancing our current fixed rate mortgage of 6%, so I gave permission to pull our credit. Later that evening we had locked in a 15 year mortgage, no points, no origination fee, at 4.25%. Fortunately we have a low LTV on our house and excellent credit.
If you have a higher interest rate on your mortgage and have equity in your home, you might want to give your lender a call. I am glad that I finally got around to doing it.
