No Soup for YOU! Here on Long Island??
Seinfeld. I watched the series and loved them all. The entire concept of the show was brilliant I thought: “A Show about absolutely Nothing.” It worked!
When I heard one of the cast members was going to be signing Autographs I thought of all the Seinfeld lovers I know and went down in the hopes of getting one. The ad read something like (and I’m paraphrasing here): Come in and donate some non perishable food and get an autograph by Larry Thomas. Best of all, it was right here on Long Island in Suffolk County NY!
Larry Thomas played the episodes with the “Nazi” Soup Kitchen which remain viewers favorite episodes according to IMBD. In fact, he was up for an Emmy Award in 1996. The Soup “General” was actually based on a real person in New York City who reportedly had the BEST soup in town---along with a heck of a bad personality! Still, people braved him and his wrath to get some of his soup.
I wish the ad had said “Come in, donate some non perishable food and pay $45 for an Autograph by Larry Thomas. Ouch! Still, it was fun stepping back in time.
