No Soup for YOU!  Here on Long Island??

Seinfeld.  I watched the series and loved them all.  The entire concept of the show was brilliant I thought:  “A Show about absolutely Nothing.”  It worked!

When I heard one of the cast members was going to be signing Autographs I thought of all the Seinfeld lovers I know and went down in the hopes of getting one.  The ad read something like (and I’m paraphrasing here):  Come in and donate some non perishable food and get an autograph by Larry Thomas.  Best of all, it was right here on Long Island in Suffolk County NY!

Larry Thomas played the episodes with the “Nazi” Soup Kitchen which remain viewers favorite episodes according to IMBD.  In fact, he was up for an Emmy Award in 1996.  The Soup “General” was actually based on a real person in New York City who reportedly had the BEST soup in town---along with a heck of a bad personality!  Still, people braved him and his wrath to get some of his soup.

I wish the ad had said “Come in, donate some non perishable food and pay $45 for an Autograph by Larry Thomas.  Ouch!  Still, it was fun stepping back in time.

Another huge Seinfeld fan here, Carole! I have a (double) handful of favorite episodes, but the Soup Nazi is one of them. $45 for an autograph? Wow...it must have been worth it for those who splurged. :)

Hi Carole,

Seinfeld was such a great show! I think everyone love the soup kitchen episode! Wow 45.00 dollars to get an autograph that is a little pricey I would say!

Hope all is well with you! Life is good here just going way to fast for me!

Hi Carrole,

Seinfeld was a great show. And, yes, it was about "absolutely nothing".  It was perfect for that era.

Carole, thank you for the memories, Kramer was our favourite favorite.  He just had to slide through that door and we were laughing. Funny you mentioned soup, we have been on a homemade soup craving for the past week.  It is so bad if that soup kitchen was still open we just may drive over the border!

Carole--Even though you did not get his autograph it sounds like you had a good time while on your quest.  I don't think pay for an autograph either.  Even $5 is above and beyond.  Food donation for the Soup Kitchen, YES.

But the soup idea sounds good.  I might have to make a pot. Hmmm.

I totally knew what you were referring to by the title alone! We are some hard-hitting Seinfeld fans--I can quote just about every episode, or think of a situation where one applies!

Hi Carole...I would have followed you right out of the store.  It looks like it was for a photo, not even a book.

I would rather donate the $45 to the soup kitchen.  I do love that show though and those episodes were great.

Loved that episide, and when we went to NYC we went to the guy who says the show was patterned after him....now that I see Craigs picture, maybe not...The soup was "to die for" and the hospitality was lacking, (unlike the REST of NYC!) My memories would have to suffice, no autograph of a contemporary is worth $45, to me, even the prez...

Sharon, That's what we thought, you bring a can in...get a free autograph...snap a photo...clearly we we're mistaken...so a picture will do :)
