Everyone knows that brick homes last forever, right?  Remember the story of the three little pigs?  As a child, we were told the story to illustrate that brick homes are strong and last forever.  No where in the story did anyone mention that brick homes would someday become outdated!

Because bricks are made of clay, colors may differ due to the different origins of the clay. Thus making it hard to match bricks over a long period of time.  Brick makers may choose to make the brick any shape or size, thus making it a very marketable product.  As we know, marketable products change constantly, therefore, out dating themselves quickly.

Here are a few before and after photos that I wanted to share with you.  Don't be afraid to recommend exterior painting to your client.

 My husband and I purchased this home that was built in the 70's.  The cinder block home had been sitting vacant for over a year. The chocolate colored vinyl was the first thing to be primed and painted.  The painting was done before the roof was replaced, so that over spray would not effect the new roof.

Since I suggested that the vinyl be updated with a new color, I was elected to do some of the painting.

    The results were amazing.  The cinder block was finished with stucco.  Columns were replaced with nice wood columns.  The porch was finished with slate tiles and new black shutters completed the beautiful home.  All of the work was done without damaging the 100 year old tree that stood in front of the home.  This home was purchased for $81,000.00 and after repairs, it sold for $249,000.00.

This next home was one of a local investor. The investor needed an updated look for this really outdated home.  
 Although the photos do not show it, there is miss matched bricks from side to back of home.

 By the time the investor had asked me to help with the updating process, he had already had a new roof put on the house.  This dictated what colors could be used on the brick.  I chose a coordinating color for the brick and a cream color vinyl with white trim.  The investor replaced all the windows, changed the soffits and fascia to vinyl, then added vinyl siding to the home.  As a result, the home had a fresh new look.

Lets face it, everything needs a little face lift after awhile.  Painting is a simple and inexpensive way to achieve a great new look.  Don't be afraid to suggest exterior painting to your clients.
