Lockerbie square

 Lockerbie Square in Downtown Indianapolis

Tonight I am meeting some friends for dinner. I didn't know where the restaurant was, since I had not been there before. To my absolute delight, it was in the Lockerbie Square area of downtown. You see, I know where Lockerbie Square is, but give me an address where I have never been and I can not tell you for certain exactly what is on the corner. It is a disconnect in the wiring of my brain!

While waiting for eveyone to arrive for dinner, I couldn't resist the temptation to walk down the street and take some pictures. I am not, by any stretch of the imagination, a great photographer. I just like to take pictures and sometimes I surprise myself. So, I persist......

Walking down a street of remodeled homes from the 1800 and 1900's for me, is like letting a child loose in a candy store. These homes are absolutely amazing. I could walk through these neighborhoods for hours and never tire of the beauty and architecture.

The revitalized Historic Districts in Indianapolis has brought renewed life to the streets and homes here. Many of the people here are new, some have lived here a very long time and have seen the changes first hand.

I met Carol, one of the residents there, while walking. She has lived in Lockerbie Square for 17 years. She allowed me to take some pictures of her gardens and the outside of her home. I have posted the tour separately.

Look at some of the beautiful homes here:

Paula, your downtown looks similiar to Ann Arbor downtown. Those homes go for 200-300 per square foot. Ann Arbor people love the charm, character and the ability to walk to downtown.

Ashley - It really is charming and the homes are each unique. There are massive Victorians with 3000-4000 square foot to cottage style with 2000 square foot. Tree lined streets create a canopy as you walk down them. Thanks for stopping by!

Missy - I guess our Midwest Cities don't differ too much. Ours are not quite as expensive as your area, still, costly for Indianapolis. I also love the charma nd charachter of these neighborhoods. Unfortunately our public schools are not the best, so many have to figure the cost of private school.

I live right across the inerstate thing in cottage home, there are alot of neighborhoods in Indianapolis with charm like Lockerbie. Chatham arch, Old north, Fletcher place, etc, and cottage home(or atleast the part I  live in) are alot alike. The homes in Indianapolis are just beautiful. :)
