The North Carolina Maritime Museum will offer a variety of programs during July to help bring people closer to the water.

The Youth Sailing program is open to youth ages 8 to 16. Through August 3 those aged 14 to 16 will learn to sail the Vanguard 420 and everyone will learn the basics of seamanship.

Build a boat in a day is on July 12 from 9 to 5. Learn to build a 8 foot from plywood using the stitch and glue method. For $300.00 you will learn how to build it and then you can take the boat home with you.

July 19 at 10 am learn basic rigging techniques including whipping and splicing three strand rope. Bring your own dock line.

July 28 is the annual One-Design Regatta. The regatta is open to Optimist 420, youth sunfish and laser sailboats. The first race begins at noon with registration at 10 am. An awards dinner follows and is included in the $20.00 registration fee.
