Send a World War II Veteran a note of thanks today - The Greatest Generation"

A friend of mine's father was a WW II vet who was dying and he asked some of his friends if they could send his father a short note thanking him for his service in the war and for being a member of "The Greatest Generation".  I sent a handwritten note to his father, and my friend said that it thrilled his father to get it.  Unfortunately he died a week later.

My father, who is 88, served as a marine captain in the Marines and served on Okinawa and Peleliu.  He is proud to have been a Marine.  His best friend, and best man at his wedding,  is Lynn "Buck" Compton,  who was made famous as the sargeant in the book and movie "Band of Brothers" ( his character was played by Neal McDonough ,

Most of the WW II veterans are now in their late 80"s or 90"s and are passing away at a fast pace.

We should all take the time to send a note of thanks to someone you know who fought in WW II.  We owe them everything.
