So Proud of the New Orleans Saints

I wasn't able to stay awake late enough to see the entire game last night, but my bleary-eyed husband tells me that the New Orleans Saints remain undefeated.  He also admits in a respectful tone that the Saints were tough and played an exceptional game against the Patriots.  I am so proud.

My interest in the Saints began in the 1990's, when I was living in Buffalo.  I was supposed to be a Bills fan, but after a number of failed Super Bowl attempts, I had to step up and confess my real allegiance:  The New Orleans Saints.  Admittedly, they were not much of a team back then.

Fast forward to 2009.  Now I live in Massachusetts and am supposed to be a Patriots fan.  The Patriots are a superb team, no argument there.  But for me, they are in the second line, behind New Orleans.  It is so satisfying to see this underdog of a team, who has had so little respect in the past decade, rise to the top.  I'll be facing a lot of heat because of this, but I stand firm.  I am rooting for the Saints.

Go New Orleans!

I lived in New Orleans in 1993. I'll always be a Giants fan, but I am happy for the Saints' success. They were a doormat for decades, and they have great fans.

Philip:  The Giants have always had a strong presence in the NFL.  Thanks for your support of the Saints.

The Saints are definately contenders for the Super Bowl.  Last night was the first I've seen them play this season, and they were firing on all cylinders.  They are going to have to go through Brett Favre and the Vikings to get there though!!

My NFC/AFC division picks:

AFC: Colts vs Bengals
NFC: Saints vs Vikings

Super Bowl: Colts vs Vikings

As much as I think the Saints will go, I have to root for one more bowl for Favre so he can retire in peace =)

Great post Kathryn.  I too, lived in Buffalo (Williamsville) in the early 90s.  I still root for the Bills, but since I live in Albany now, I guess I "have to be" a Giants fan.  I was def rooting for the Saints last night!!!  They looked awesome!!!  Best wishes from Albany!!!
