Real Estate Advertising

I'm sorry to disappoint you but I'm probably not! However, you did open this post and you are reading it aren't you?

Yesterday, while i was going through my junk e-mail, i came across one of those power point presentations that somehow gets to you through a list of friends you don't know. This power point presentation had a VERY powerful Advertising message that could help everybody here on AR.

The story goes like this (not verbadum):

A blind guy sitting on the streets of Paris is begging for money, he has his hat in-front of him and a sign that says " I'm blind" a marketer goes by him in the morning and sees his hat empty, he happens to go by him a couple of hours later and still the hat is empty. The marketer buys a marker, flips the sign around and writes down " It's spring in Paris, and i cant see it".

As the story goes on to tell, that day the blind man made more money than he usually did through out the week!

So this gets me into thinking, with so much competition out there and so many people using the same slogans or the same tag-lines - is it time to rethink what your communicating to your audience?

It definitely got me to re-think my strategy.

Bruno,

I like the story -- guess it is time to re-think my marketing.  It's one of the reasons I'm here on Active Rain.

Marketing yourself is the key to success, being different is also important. Great little story to make you think.

Bruno,  Very timely post for me.  I'm rethinking taglines and such.  It shows you the power of words.

I have already changed my tag line once. When I did my average sales price doubled. Always good to think about these things.

The perspective in which we look at things makes all the difference.  Sometimes we just need to sit back and re-think our strategy.  The slow down of the business has made me do that and in the long run I will be better off for it.

Great story. Good marketing is what gets people to call you, good service keeps them coming back.

Wow, what a powerful thought to put in our heads. But it is so true, the same thing said in a different way, can get us so much larger results.

Did it ever occur to you that the blind man kept taking the money out of his hat and put it in his pocket? HMMM Good reminder on marketing though!

That is so true!  I redid my "Open House" ad the last time I held an "Open House".  It was not your typical ad.  You might say it was short and simple and different from everyone else.  I had quite a few more people stop by that day than usual.  It does work.

It's amazing how controversial titles capture the readers/bloggers attention.
