THURSDAY-DECEMBER 3 "TOP CHEF" EVENT TO BENEFIT HELPING HANDS FOOD PANTRY
The Top Chef 2009 event will take place at Wilson 's Appliance showroom on December 3, 2009, 6:00 pm. This annual event is a benefit for our local food pantry, Helping Hands. Helping Hands has been at work in the greater Dripping Springs community for many years and is one of the finest charitable organizations that is 100 % volunteer led. Every penny you give to this organization goes to helping those in need. If you purchase a ticket for Top Chef, 100% of that money will be used to provide food and necessities for our neighbors going through difficult times. There will be wine for tasting, wonderful food prepared by Fabienne Bollom from Rolling in Thyme and Dough, and thrilling entertainment as we watch FIVE contestants cook their hearts out. Our judges this year, Emmett Fox from Asti and Fino, Robert Rhodes from Hudson 's on the Bend , and Larry Perdido from Moonshine, are always a treat to visit with and hear their input on good food! SATURDAY-DECEMBER 5 CHRISTMAS IN DRIPPING SPRINGS
"It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas" in Downtown Dripping Springs as businesses and citizens prepare for the 5th Annual Christmas on Mercer Street, Saturday, Dec. 5, 10A to 6P. Hosted by the City of DS and DS Lions Club, admission is free to the public. With arts and crafts booths, Santa Sleigh Rides, children's activities, delicious food & free holiday entertainment, there is no place better than the charming surroundings on Mercer Street around the holidays. CITY OF DS LIGHTING CONTEST --The City of DS will also host a town holiday lighting contest. The categories include residential, commercial and public/non-profit. Entries are due by Dec. 1 with judging taking place Dec. 1-3. Awards will be presented at Christmas on Mercer Street and announced at the Lighting of the Tree. SATURDAY-DECEMBER 5 TIMELESS CHRISTMAS AT LBJ BOYHOOD HOME & JOHNSON SETTLEMENT
The following three Saturdays, December 5, 12, and 19, everyone is invited to experience "Christmas at the LBJ Boyhood Home" with open house of this historic home, all decked out for a Christmas celebration in the 1920s from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. each evening. These park events are free of charge and are complemented by the stunning lighting display at the PEC, across the street from the LBJ Boyhood Home. Blanco County Courthouse is the centerpiece of the town's seasonal celebration "Lights Spectacular" and is not to be missed. MONDAY-DECEMBER 7 & 8 SPRINGS FAMILY YMCA Holiday Cookie Festival!
December 7th, 9am - noon & December 8th, 4 -7pm
If you don't know what a Cookie Festival is, it's time for you to bake a couple of batches of cookies or candy (or several batches), donate them to the YMCA, and then come back and buy a whole variety of cookies and other specialty items for your own enjoyment or to give away. Specialty items include fudge, truffles, candies and lots of other goodies. Call the 894-3309 for more information, or if you'd like to help. Proceeds will support the Springs Family YMCA Partner of Youth campaign, making it possible for everyone to be a part of the Y.

DECEMBER 8TH & 9TH FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH RINGS FOR SALVATION ARMY
The First Baptist Church , Dripping Springs' Youth Group is growing and expanding community missions. They refer to themselves as "The Well". This active youth group is ringing out for the Salvation Army. The young people are excited about being bell ringers at the local Walgreens. The young adult class will be ringing on December 8th and The Well Youth Group on Wednesday, December 9th. First Baptist has been busy working on rebuilding the church and this will be the first community outreach for our new pastor, Craig Curry. The youth meets on Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8:00 pm in the fellowship hall and visitors are welcomed. Please stop by Walgreens between 4 & 8 PM on either Tuesday or Wednesday and meet some of the folks that make First Baptist Church a place that honors the past and is building our future. WASH DAY LAUNDRY IS DROP OFF POINT
"Wash Day Laundry is the drop-off point for any new or gently-used coats you would like to donate through the Oak Hill Rotary Club. We are also the drop-off point for blankets or bedding that will be donated to an adopted family through EcoClean."

WIMBERLEY HOME HEALTH OFFERS DIABETIC EDUCATION CLASSES
Wimberley Home Health offers free diabetic education classes-taught by a registered nurse/diabetic educator. There are four classes in the series, and they meet once a week for four weeks. Educational materials are provided, and a light, diabetic friendly snack is offered. Seating is limited, so please contact Barbara to reserve your space - (512)738-7048.
