Tonight, Dec 1st at 6:00 p.m., Dover Delaware will once again officially open the Christmas Season with the traditional lighting of the City's Tree. The annual event will be held in front of City Hall on The Plaza. Dover City Mayor, Carleton Carey, will be on hand to kick off the festivities.

On Dec 5th, the city's Festival of Lights will be highlighted by the appearance of jolly St. Nick who will be listening to young boy's and girl's wish lists on the corner of Bradford and Loockerman Streets.  Downtown Dover is lit from one end of Loockerman Street to the other, using about 30,000 lights! Every tree is decorated with festive lights and the lamp posts are adorned with wreathes and bows. Local merchants add to the scene by decorating their storefonts. To see the downtown section at night is especially beautiful. It brings a very calming effect to the troubled soul. When there is a crisp, clean, blanket of snow on the ground, it enhances the beauty and brings out the inner child in all of us. Come out and enjoy a pleasant evening in beautiful Dover Delaware!
