We all have them. It's our Holiday Customs. They are so engrained that you hardly think twice. And it has nothing to do with naughty or Nice! Okay, here are my regulars.
The day after Thanksgiving I go to my friend's Farm every year...for almost 20 years. We hop on her tractor and roam the Farm with her Grandson and her two dogs and we have a Norman Rockwell Day. We cut clippings for my Annual Wreath Making Dinner Party. I load up my car with magnolia, holly, dried grasses, pine and Nandina Berries galore. This year I added a new custom and hosted a Holiday Get Together that night for childhood friends that I have reconnected with via Facebook. Anyway, I spread all the farm cuttings around my porch that late afternoon. The week preceding the Wreath Party I go out by the beach and pull vines off the trees to make several dozen wreath bases. I also clean and shop furiously. Then the day of the Wreath Party I get a big kick out of going back to basics for Christmas. It's fun to watch everyone make their Christmas decorations and create gifts for others.
Then there's clean up and more delivery to the Neighbor's and friends so everyone has their wreaths. There's a few Santa deliveries around the county. I pull out and collect old photos to scan on my Fujitsu ScanSnap Scanner so that I can add keepsake photos to everyone's flash drives of new Heirloom family and friends photos.
There's often a Midnight Service. Oh, and there's a Ham and Oyster Supper early in the month. Riley Rover gets a few extra treats the Special Day. And I almost forgot, I make homemade apple pies for the neighbors but they may not see them until New Years if my energy starts to wane.
