It’s summer time in Florida, and most people will be spending a lot of time outdoors. Here are some great tips for some safe and happy outdoor time, without getting “bugged”.
■ If you’re bringing food, be sure to pack everything in plastic containers, to keep from attracting ants.
■ To deter wasps, keep fruits and juices covered at all times. Serve your juice from a pitcher with a sealable lid.
■ To avoid attracting mosquitoes, avoid wearing perfumes or scented lotions.
■ Don’t forget your insect repellant.
■ If you’re using outdoor lighting, use yellow bulbs instead of white ones. While the yellow bulbs won’t repel any bugs, they also won’t attract them, since the bugs won’t see the yellow light as well as the white light.
Not sure what to do? How about a ball game at Jackie Robinson Ball Park, or a casual dinner on the Intracoastal, under the Port Orange bridge, or how about a trip to the Daytona Beach Flea and Farmer's Market?
