Addison Pacesetters Learn About WOW (Women of WaterTower Theatre) at Dunn Bros. Coffeehouse
Addison Pacesetters (the 50+ group) meet the first Wednesday of each month at Dunn Bros. Coffeehouse on Beltline Road and learn about the Town of Addison. This month, Greg Patterson, the Director of Development at the WaterTower Theatre, and Glynda Turner, former councilmember and WOW member, spoke to us. Buddy Frazer, a member of the WaterTower Theatre's board of directors, also attended. Here are some interesting tidbits from their presentations.
The theater in general:
- The theater is a non-profit charitable organization and has been around for 14 years
- There are 5 plays in each regular season on the main stage
- You can get a season subscription for under $100 for all 5 plays
- There is also a 2nd stage/studio theater
- The annual Out-of-the-Loop Fringe Festival features 25 companies performing music, dance, visual arts, and theater over a 2 week period and tickets are only $10/ea or $40 for an unlimited pass.
Women of WaterTower:
- Membership is $150/year and $100 of that is tax deductible
- Some companies with matching funds programs will match your donation
- WOW is strictly a social group and members have never been asked for additional contributions
- Four to 6 events are held annually
- Membership includes two tickets to one play
- Prior events include: private dress rehersals; reception before performances; luncheon at One Arts Plaza in downtown Dallas with a presentation by a costume designer; champagne tea at Neiman-Marcus; opening night social; picnic; style show and outoor party.
- Upcoming events include: sushi party; behind the scenes tour of the theater; a tour through the Dallas Arts District
- This is WOW's 2nd season and there are over 100 members.
- You don't have to live in Addison to join WOW!
