I had the pleasure of visiting the Charleston, South Carolina area  this weekend.  It is one of my favorite places and I always enjoy the area.  I lived in Mt. Pleasant for 3 years but had not been back since I moved away 5 years ago.  The growth and changes that have taken place there just blew my mind.  The most notable change  of course, is the new bridge, which connects Mt. Pleasant to Charleston.  Not only is it safer and more efficient, it is also beautiful.  I love the pedestrian lane which provides a picturesque setting for walkers and runners.

Charleston restuarants are famous for their outstanding food and service, a reputation well earned and deserved.  We enjoyed a marvelous meal on Friday night at MeMes on James Island where I ate the best Shrimp and Grits I have ever eaten.  Saturday night we dined at the Mustard Seed and my dinner of Roasted Duck with a Blue Cheese Souffle` was outstanding.  I heartily recommend these two outstanding eateries.  

This visit did not include time for site seeing or shopping but nevertheless, it was a good trip and get away.

I was a Realtor in Charleston in the mid-70's, and I can't imagine the changes since then.  Nothing but fond memories of my short career there, while my husband was stationed about a ship in Charleston.  Sounds like I need a return trip.
