This is Jim Marini, Superintendent of Schools in Newton calling with information about the H1N1 flu vaccine.
The Newton Health Department will offer the H1N1 flu vaccine to all students in kindergarten through the 12th grade in December. The vaccine will be given during school hours to all students who have returned both a signed parental consent form and a vaccine administration record form to the school nurse. The vaccine is free for everyone. The date of each school clinic will be announced by the school principal.
If you are interested in having your child vaccinated at school, please download and complete the forms from the City of Newton flu website and send them to your school nurse. The website is www.newtonma.gov/flu . These forms are also available from your school nurse. In order to determine the number of vaccines needed, please return your consent forms by Thursday, December 3rd.
