I just listed a home in a nice neighborhood. There is still new construction going on in the neighborhood so the HOA is still with the developer. The developer isn't doing a whole lot with neighborhood complaints.

My problem is the home owner next door to my listing isn't cutting his grass or should I say weeds in his backyard. The yard looks terrible. How do I get these people to clean up the yard?

You may have to tell your sellers what I've told people before-go mow it yourself.  As much as they'll hate doing it, it has to get done or it will hinder the home sale.

Let a goat loose, it will be a simple fix for about $50, Seriously though, it has to be done so they want to let the grass grow over call code enforcement...

Good luck,

I when people are lazy like that, my street has 11 houses on it and we all have nice kept yards except the one guy who's house looks like trash. Drives me crazy!

Have you spoken to the agent at the model home center?  You would think "they" would want the community to show well...but then again if you're selling one of their "just sold" properties you may not get much support.  Ugghh....   GOOD LUCK with that one!!

Yes it has to be done.

Don't suggest this, but in my old office, one of the agents had a similar issue with a clients neighbor.  The client was the type that does not take any bull, so he went and mowed the whole thing, and then went around and sprayed the whole thing with round-up.  They did not have any more trouble with uncut grass and weeks while trying to get the house sold the agent said.

Gwen

I would be careful about suggesting they mow it themselves, no matter how bad it is it is still trespassing. I don't know about your local ordinances but in St Clair Shores MI where I live the code only covers the front yard. It might be something you have to live with if the association wont help.
