Are you using Craigslist? If so, what are your results?

I wanted to know what luck agents have had with Craigslist. I have posted some on the financial board offering my services but I have had 0 contacts from it. I tend to see more "lenders" that offer 125% loans. This will probably not be the best way for me to spend my time.

On the listing side, have you had any luck posting your homes?

I post everything there, and have had several good buyer leads to come from it. You could knock me over with a feather that folks are shopping for houses on free classifieds....

Excellent question. I wish I had thought to ask. I have had absolutely no luck at all with Craigs list but I know of others who say they have. I've asked them what it is they do so that I can see if I need to do something differently. I mean it's pretty straightforward on posting to Craigs list. I even had some flagged and removed and couldn't figure out for the life of me why. I had other realtors look at my posts to see if they could tell and they couldn't figure it out either. I emailed craigs list to get some sort of reason but never got a response. I posted three listings about two weeks ago and so far, absolutely nothing but at least, they havent' been flagged and removed. So, Ronnie, it's good to know I'm not alone since you've had 0 contacts. I was beginning to get a complex.

I've only used it once. Rather recently actually, I decided to put a classified for a listing. I didn't get the first call, but, hey FREE is Free. Odds are, that even if one lead comes from it, I'll be ahead of the game!

I have had luck with posting rentals but not much luck posting listings for sale.

Hello Ronnie:

An agent in our office recently closed a sale that came as a direct result of an ad placed on CraigsList. What might be most interesting is that the buyer (who saw the ad for the listing on CraigsList) bought the home advertised which was priced at $479,000. Not exactly the price point I expected to generate interest from CraigsList visitors.

As a result our firm (all 9 offices) is now entering ALL listings on CraigsList as a way to gain more exposure. Only time will tell whether or not the return is worth the effort. I'll keep you posted.
