The end to the Penny? People call the penny the most annoying coin. Not me, Penny O'Brien...

Now that it costs the government more than one cent to mint a U.S. Penny, pressure is building to eliminate pennies altogether and round prices.

The penny, first minted in 1787, was the first currency of any type authorized by the United States. The design for the first penny was suggested by Benjamin Franklin. Paul Revere supplied copper for the minting of pennies during the 1790s, and Abraham Lincoln's image has graced the coin since 1909. The penny's long history and America's sentimental attachment to it make many people hesitant to get rid of the penny.

I'm sorry but for this Penny my feeling is  I have an  emotional attachment to the penny,"

3 billion pennies are out there.

Penny,

What a wonderful post to start the morning with...So much of our idiomatic language is tied in to the penny,

A Penny for your thoughts for instance and you did just that!  All the best
