As the temperatures begin to plumet it's time to start thinking about preparing your home for winter temperatures. After all we don't want a pipe to burst and ruin everything or the heat to not work when it's freezing outside. So much easier to prepare than deal with the consequences later.
Here's a list of a few items to think about:
- Hire an individual to come out and inspect the HVAC and possibly clean it.
- Disconnect all outside hoses and turn off exterior water (Make sure the outside connection is drained)
- Have sprinkler systems drained and blown out.
- Hire a chimney sweep to clean and inspect fireplace.
- Inspect doors and windows and add weather stripping or caulking where needed.
- Put winterization fertilizer on lawn
- Remove screens from windows and doors
- Store Outdoor Patio Furniture
- Put Ice Scrapers and Shovels in the Cars
- Inspect Roof for any missing or sagging shingles.
