Hawaii County allows a real property tax exemption for land that is used for agriculture. To take advantage of this exemption, you must have crops planted or farm animals on the property.  For example if 50% of a lot is planted, your tax bill will go down substantially. If it is 100% cultivated, your tax bill will decrease even more.  The tax office sends one of the appraisers out to verify that the parcel is being used for agriculture.  The form is RP 19-57 (Non-dedicated Ag Use Application). It can be found on the Hawaii County Real Property Tax website http://www.hawaiipropertytax.com     Click on the forms tab.  This form is under Miscellaneous.  It is due by December 31.
