TO DIE for Oreo Truffles

SO- by popular demand I am giving away my secret recipe--thanks Lucky ;)  I first had these truffles about a year ago and something was missing so I amended the recipe and handed them out at local events and now I am known for these things.  So here is my secret...

1 8oz. package of softened cream cheese

1 stick of melted butter

1 package of regular oreos--crushed

2 blocks of white chocolate almond bark

Blend together first three ingredients for about 3 minutes, you want the mixture smooth.  Chill for one hour.  Roll into bite size balls and then dunk in melted almond bark chocolate.  Let cool on wax paper.  Then cool again (I usually put them in the refrigerator over night and they are ready to go the next day.)  Hint:  Don't over heat the chocolate--it won't work then.  Just put in for 1.5 min and then stir and then put in for 30 sec. intervals until smooth.

AND WAHLAAA....they are really good and I warn you that you can't have just one...  Thank you and good luck!

Amber,

These sound delicious and I'm amazed at how easy they are to make!  I'll have to try them....I am loving this group because, as not much of a 'cook', I'm picking up some yummy things to make that won't have me 'slaving' over a hot stove!

Amber,
This sounds like something I made at Christmas but it had a different name.  Very easy, delicious and looks nice on a dessert platter.  Thanks.

Lucky- you are welcome :)

Val- you are right, they are pretty easy, and not over a hot stove, let me know if you have questions.

Cynthia- They are great and delicious, and at xmas time you can substitute regular oreos for mint ones and have mint oreo truffles..yummy :)

Amber,
Great suggestion, had not thought about that.  Have you ever made Snickers or Peppermint Patty brownies?  If not, let me know & I can tell you about them.  Out of this world!

I'm thinking that you can use that recipe and dip them in dark chocolate.  It is easy to melt by microwave and little mess.  I am going to try it out.

Amber.. These sound oh so delicious.  I will make them, just need to omit the almonds... I'm allergic to them.  Just plain chocolate would also do the trick.  Or do you have another idea?

Amber.. I'm not sure if anyone else noticed (I hope not) but there is a typo.  I think you wanted to say first *three* not first *thing*.  I'm not trying to be rude.. I just thought you'd like to know.

06/17/2008 04:15 PM by Valerie Osterhoudt (Johnson Real Estate, Inc.)

Amber.. Me again.  How would you dunk the truffles into chocolate?  Do you use a toothpick?  At what temperature do you melt the chocolate?  Do you use a double boiler?  I hope I'm not being a pain the the A - - ?

06/17/2008 04:17 PM by Valerie Osterhoudt (Johnson Real Estate, Inc.)

It is very bad for me to have this kind of information... bad for my waistline that is. Thanks for the sure fire way for me to gain a few pounds...lol

06/17/2008 05:23 PM by H.I.S. Home Inspections (Kevin Corsa) NE Ohio Home Inspector (H.I.S. Home Inspections)

Valerie thank you for the typo notice :)  I got that switched.  As to how I dunk them--I drop them in the chocolate, spoon it over top and then fish them out with a fork.  You can really "Roll" them in the chocolate.  And the almond bark chocolate is especially used for dunking things, it has a great flavor and a great consistency, let me know if you have a hard time finding it and I can send you some.  Thank you!

Kevin  this is sure to add your waistline..haha :)

Hi Amber.. I haven't forgotten about making these truffles, yet.  My weekend through me for a loop, and every plan I had changed.  My son had a temp of 102.2.. and come to find out has pneumonia, so it will be a while before I make these.  I will let you know how they turn out.
