I subscribe to  a weekly Jim Rohn Newsletter and this  email  was in my inbox when I got home this evening entitled "The Passing of a Legend."  gallery

The Passing of a Legend

With great sadness we share that Jim Rohn, our mentor and friend, left us December 5, 2009 for a better place.

Over the past 18 months, in his battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis, Jim assured us with a smile that all is good, that he would fight until the last breath, yet he had no fear as to what would be next. Jim’s faith was as much a part of his life as his desire to inspire and challenge us all to be the best we could be and to live our dreams.

Jim’s courage in his final months and days were a testament to his message that we should all fight the good fight. He never gave up and never gave in.

Jim Rohn touched millions of lives over the past 46 years through his seminars, books, articles and CDs. He always stayed long after an event to shake hands, take pictures and sign autographs. He loved making a difference in people’s lives, that was his passion and inspiration. Yet he was also a private man who kept a small, loyal and caring inner circle. He was a tremendous friend to those who knew him.

I never met Jim Rohn but I feel as I knew him.   I listened to a set of six cassette tapes entitled The Art of Exceptional Living"  while I walked around the track of Austin Elementary School Abilene TX.  I enjoyed these tapes so much that I listened to these tapes several times over the years.

One of the messages that Jim Rohn spoke of I internalized from these tapes.  Jim Rohn recommended keeping three things of value, 1) a home library, 2) write in a journal and 3) take photos of events.  I have  always loved books and have plenty of books.  Now, I keep books of value to me. I now journal both on paper and online in this Active Rain Blog, and I take more photos and scrapbook my photos.

Thank you Jim Rohn for your tapes.  You will be missed.  You are right. Your books and journals and scrapbooks will be treasured long after one passes.  It is time to find those tapes and have another listen "The Art of Exceptional Living."

I have followed Mr. Rohn for years, I was introduced to his work through Brian Buffini, this is sad news. Don't know who I learned from more Jim Rohn or Zig Ziglar?

Tamara,  I agree that inspired words can toubh the lives of many.

Rick, Jim Rohn was an exceptional communicator and his tapes were very easy to listen to as well.

Gerry,  Zig Ziglar is another great inspiritation, I have some of his tapes, too.

Thanks Marilyn.  I have listened to a few tapes over the years and Jim Rohn was my favorite person to listen to on a tape.  I almost went to see him when he was in Dallas a few years back and now wish I had.
