Tis the season", as the saying goes this time of year. Saturday December 5, 2009 started a whole new event for the world famous resort. The Resort has experienced a whole new direction and feeling under the management of Mr. Jim Justice, the new owner of the resort. This event was open to the community and welcomed everyone to experience the lighting of the resorts Christmas Tree. The event took place after the city of White Sulphur Springs annual Christmas parade. This year had a great surprise from mother nature in the form of a several inches of snow. Which really made the evening perfect with the events that were planned. The event offered shuttle service to the tree lighting to visitors from the train depot. Some who enjoyed the parade walked to the event from downtown. They were greeted with hand held candles and refreshments to enjoy. There was Christmas caroling and songs performed for everyone to participate. Guest could explore the hotel in all its glory, with the shops and specialty stores of in holiday spirit. The Hotel itself was decorated to the Greenbrier standards and was beautiful to see.
Mr. Justice took the proverbial reigns and spoke to his guests and with this event. Arriving by horse drawn sleigh and taking the stage. He expressed how the resort was glad to have everyone here this wonderful evening. He expressed the resort was open to the people and will be open to the people of the community. Then he counted down to revealing the beautiful light display that covers the resort itself and the lawn, and the spring house too. It is something to see all the lights and the great Christmas tree come to life. It offers everything from a golfing Polar Bear to a reindeer drawn sleigh. The Spring House which the resort is world know for, was covered with lights and displays. The entire property has been transformed into a winter wonder land.
The event is open until 12-17-09 and they are asking for a donation of a toy for "Toys For Tots" from anyone who attends.
