Google tries to keep its search results as clean as possible. For that reason, they have a variety of spam filters in their ranking algorithm that try to remove low quality web sites.

If your web site gets caught by one of these filters, it will be very difficult to get high Google rankings. In the next articles, we'll take a look a the 15 most common Google spam filters and we'll tell you how you can get around them.

Google's Sandbox, Google's Trust Rank and Google's domain age filter

These three Google filters all take a look at the age of a web site. Many web sites don't get very old. For that reason, Google implemented a filter that prevents new web sites from getting high rankings for competitive search terms. That filter is called Google's sandbox.

Google's TrustRank filter is closely related to that filter. Web sites with a high TrustRank get high rankings on Google. The TrustRank of a web site is determined by the age of a web site, the quality of inbound links and the contents of a web site.

The domain age filter is another filter that considers the age of your web site. Web sites with old domain names are more likely to get high rankings for competitive keywords on Google.

Further information about the sandbox, Google's TrustRank and domain name filters can be found in these articles:

How to get around these filters

It's not easy to get around these filters. As they all consider the age of your web site, you basically have to wait some time until Google releases your web site from the sandbox.

The best thing that you can do is to work on the content of your web site to show Google's web page spider that your web site is a valuable resource for your topic. Make sure that your web pages are relevant to your search terms.

In addition, get good inbound links to increase the TrustRank of your web site. The better the links to your web site, the higher your TrustRank and the higher your web site will rank on Google.

Next, we're going to take a look at three link filters that Google uses to remove web sites from the search results.

Thanks for Dropping By, I am in the process of posting a four part article ( with the permission of the authro of course ) These little tidbits have helped me out a lot. And you are right, Meter your time Blog and continually update something on your website. Google and other Spiders love  continuosly changing and on subject ( good content ) websites. This is why blogs rank so how so fast. Have a great fourth of July Too.

Don't forget one thing - there are very few FACTS regarding Google.  Most are opinions.  You can go to Google Webmasters and find out FACTS.  This is information straight from Google.  All that you read on these other sites is OPINION.  Now....   there's not necessarily anything wrong with opinions - I have my own based on my own experiences/ successes in optimizing websites, but they are my OPINIONS based on MY experiences.  NONE IS FACTUAL.

A lot of people read a lot of this 'stuff' online, and many people state this information as factual, and IT IS NOT.  Think about it - if Google told you everything it would be very easy to manipulate search results.  That's why they tell you very little.  It makes sense.

I'm actually going to a search engine optimization seminar next week - the guest speaker is Dan Crow, Google's Product Manager for Crawl Systems - an actual representative from Google.  That is VERY rare, as their 'people' don't speak or discuss anything publicly, except for Matt Cutts. He is speaking about:

  • How does Google’s search pipeline work?
  • How to use robots.txt to manage your presence in search engine results
  • Sitemaps: including hidden content in Google search results
  • Google and rich content technologies like Flash and AJAX

So I'm eagerly looking forward to it, however I also don't expect any earth shattering information for the same reasons stated above....... but we'll see.  Just make sure you take what appear to be facts as OPINIONS, which is what most really are....

Fred, Your right but the underlying "FACT" is well placed keywords ( you can find the right ones as you mentioned from none other than Google, And good Content will get your rankings up in Google and other Search engines as well ) Oops I forgot Patience as this does not happen over night. The message I am hearing from people like "Cutts" is the same. Stop the games and get back to core values, Good consistant Blogging and A Website with strong on subject Content that is good for the public.

Thanks for Dropping by, Check back after the seminar if you don't mind and let us know if there is anything new to add.

Darrel, Thanks for dropping by, in my first two years I paid out over 40,000 dollars and thought I was building a return business. I was wrong and was atleast lucky enough to get most of my money back in sales. I have learned so I just want to pass some of this on so others do not make the same mistake.....
