Got a call today from a sales rep that wanted to sell travel incentives.  Started the call with a cheesy - Hey this is Jim and I wanted to talk about the tons of points on AR.  Fast talker - turn off #1.  He repeated his opening line with a little bit of stumbling and wanted to know how I got all of the traffic to my site.  Funny taste in my mouth at this point.  "What exactly are you calling about" I asked.  Enter the sales pitch.  And no I am not interested in buying travel incentives.  I get enough of that junk in the mail as it is.  Not sure if they are targeting the AR network.  Probably not a bad place to start for someone trying to sell technology to those in the Real Estate Industry.

I suggested for him to start at the points leader in AR and work his way down.  (Just Kidding).

Ronnie - YUK!!!!  I sure hope I don't get one of those calls.  I hate it when they start off talking cheesy like that - you know darn well they're up to no good when that's how they start.  They must think they're building rapport or something by doing that - NOT!!!

I got a call similar to that from a gentleman who says he works for a National agency who handles the bank owned properties for big named banks such as BofA, Countywide, etc.  He wanted me to pay $199 for a membership that would land me the pick of the litter of zip codes in my area and whatever properties that landed in that zip code, would be mine to list.  I agree with Ann.  Why they use this tactic to build rapport is beyond me.

Fantastic (sarcasm).

We've noticed a spike in people 'leaving comments' that are actually links to porn sites, international drug companies, etc....DELETE DELETE DELETE!

I have been called by several people that say they got my contact info from here.  One of the disadvantages to getting your name out there I guess.

So far so good. I haven't had any negative contact from people as a result of my membership here on A/R. I hope it stays that way. Thanks for the heads-up Ronnie.

Ronnie:  I received a call from the same guy today.  He was pushy when I didn't seem interested.  To be quite honest I never figured out what he was selling other than something in the travel industry.

Ronnie,

I completely understand the"bad taste" left in your mouth by a cheesy sales guy trying to get you to buy travel incentive packages, but I think you are being short sighted due to your disdain for being pitched to. Nobody wants to feel like their being "sold". However, if you were to look at the bigger picture without letting a bad salesman cloud your view you might be able to see the upside to having something like a complimentary vacation at your disposal. It's a pretty nice way to say thank you to a client for doing business with you without much out-pocket expense. For the record, if you close a million dollar home a complimentary vacation might seem like a cheesy thing to give your customer...I get that. But let's just say a newly married couple has just put all of their savings into a down payment for a $200,000 home. I'm sure they would appreciate that gift. And when their friends get married and want to buy their first house, I'm sure they'd say, "hey, you should use our realtor". Not to be cliche, but think outside the box Ronnie.
