Together we can turn this economy around

Real Estate Broker/Owner with Crossroads Real Estate LLC

Is the market still going slow?  The quickest way Real Estate Agents can turn this market around is to reduce the amount of foreclosures.

I always thought my license agreement with the State of Wisconsin required me top provide information to the public.  Although there may not be required guidelines, common sense would dictate helping home owners facing foreclosure would be mandatory.  While our elected officials are busy pointing fingers and perfecting the art of wasting time and money on this matter, I suggest Real Estate Agents who really care and are passionate about their work provide free information to home owners.

The best place to begin is the official HUD site.  The following site provides a map linking you to programs within your state.

From there you can find government sponsored organizations providing real help to home owners.  Many of these services are free.  You can rest easily knowing you may have helped hundreds of home owners avoid the scams scattered all over the Internet.

Here is a link to my site.  Feel free to copy and use any of the information and links for help on foreclosures and loan modification.

Together we can turn this economy around and in the future I know the home owners will remember this and thank us for being involved.

Dennis,

Thanks for your response to my blog a few minutes ago about the survey. I too agree Realtors need to quit complaining. I am blessed that God has continued to bless my business but I am the first agent here and last to leave and pay thousands yearly for web sites etc. I will read your links further and see what else you and others have to say.

I am truly passionate about the many hundreds of thousands of families displaced from there homes as they cannot find employment. Our regional MLS of which I am a board member has lost 15% of it's membership and we have budgeted for another 30% this year. In our own office a leader in this county for over 30 years has faced to loss of agents, and worse they can't find work. We aren't employed so can't get unemployment, we can't get a group insurance policy even though we are the largest trade organization in the US but not considered as a professional in the power to be eyes. Sorry this is another story. In saying this we agents in the same boat unable to make mortgages.

I hope to see some answers in your links and will look now and I hope you have offered some solutions as we all desperately need some. But in the end until the forclosures exit the market I feel we will still see declining prices and Realtors not woking with REO's struggling. Your opinion?

As far as dealing with foreclosures.  I have written a number of emails to the NAR.  Especially when I had to pay my dues and I had to ask, what are they doing for me?  I think you have already answered that question.

I am sure there are a number of agents who feel there is nothing wrong with the system and it does not need to be fixed.  My guess is these are the agents making a killing on REOs.  The rest of us have to step it up and make our voices heard.  There is a problem and it needs to be fixed.

It seems the only time the NAR gets involved is when taxes are being raised on million dollar mansions.  Or here in Wisconsin when someone cannot install a 150 ft pier for his weekend parties, the WRA sends everyone an alert to email our elected officials.  As any other lobby group they are special interest and they represent the money.

So what is the NAR doing for the middle class in the crisis?  I sent them a number of emails asking them to collect national, state and local references for help on foreclosures and loan modifications to be posted on a central web site.  If we do not take this opportunity to help the public.  Well the I know where we get the image of being used car sales people from.

I guess it is up to us.  My outlook is, if we help people now on an individual effort it will pay off in the future.

I appreciate the suggestion about putting a page on my website for helping the "Dress for Success" women.  Great idea, Dennis, to help by sending to government sponsored organizations. Thanks so much!
