What a great place to take the family, take a loved one, take friends, or just enjoy on your own. Waco has one of the nicest Zoos I have ever seen. While not huge, the Cameron Park Zoo is quality and fun all the way around.
I do suggest visiting when it is a bit cooler outside, as the animals seek shelter from the heat during the hottest parts of the day. But even in the heat this zoo has some great cooling off surprises like misters and a water spray park for the kids or for anyone wanting to enjoy the fun.
There is a walking trail that is wonderful for those wanting to enjoy the zoo during excersise time. You can purchase a season pass for very reasonable prices depending on which type fits you best.
And I haven't even gotten to the exibits and animals yet. You will see Giraffes, Elephants, Lions, Snakes, Fish, and most of the typical animals there. But what really stands out to me is the new Brazos River Country Exhibit. A wonderful walk through the history and uniqueness of the Brazos River. This is something not to be missed if you visit Cameron Park Zoo.
For a small amount of money and a very enjoyable time, head out to the Zoo! You will be more than glad that you did.
Tip: If you go early enough, you will be ready for a lunch when you finish. There are some great resteraunts not too far away at River Square Center and plenty of shopping too.
Have fun!
