Why? .....Why? Why? Why, Mr. Dombrowski? Why did you trade our favorite player Curtis Granderson? Our All Star center fielder Curtis Granderson. Me, my family and I'm sure thousands of Detroit Tigers fans are angry. Curtis is a terrific ball player, and a great person, on the field and off. Many of us thought he was the face of the Tigers, or soon to be. The Alan Trammell of the team if you will.

I know, it's a business, but I'm wondering how good a business decission it is trading one of the fan favorites who also happens to be a terrific center fielder. I know the critics will say, yeah but he has trouble hitting left handed pitching - yeah but you know what? He does everything else awesome! I've been listening to sports radio most of the afternoon in my car, and it seems most people are not happy about this decision. Obviously I'm not happy with the trade, or with what some are calling a fire sale. I hope the Tigers front office knows what they are doing, but no matter what the results of this trade, one thing for sure - you will be missed here Curtis Granderson!

It was just a short time ago when many didn't know but a few of the players names on the Tigers. Then the popularity began to grow again as the Tigers started improving. I remember when I was a kid, it seemed like everyone young and old could name the starting line up for the Tigers for years and years. It seemed like the past 4 - 5 years things had returned to that way again. I hope the recent trades work out for the Tigers and for Curtis Granderson.

Good luck to you Curtis Granderson. You're still our Tiger.

It is a shame we lost a good player.  I hope we get some more great players this year.

Looks like they are giving up on 2010 already. Most people around here don't remember but Dombrowski did the same thing with the Florida Marlins after they won the World Series and had to shed payroll.

Russ - yes it is. I hope they know what they are doing, but I still strongly disagree with this trade.

Terry, that's exactly what they are doing - shedding payroll. I just think it's a big huge mistake. Granderson is a great player, still young and not costing them that much.

I don't know if I'm madder that they traded him at all ... OR that they traded him to the Yankmees.  Ugh--that stings.

I lost a lot of faith in Mr. D. when he didn't re-sign Polly.  Now Curtis and Edwin?  Sooooo not happy.

I'm praying that in 6 months we're all admitting it was a good move that bolstered our team.  I'm not too optimistic right now.

Merry Christmas!

Hi Marianne, oh I agree. It was tuff seeing him on the news last week with the pin striped uniform. We'll see if they were right in the spring, but like you, I'm not too optimistic either.

 Merry Christmas to you also!

I don't need to wait the full 6 months to say that it WAS a good trade!

I still miss Curtis (camera hog that he was), but I have so impressed with Austin Jackson.  He's the real deal.  Someone said in Spring Training that he had the potential to be Rookie of the Year, and I thought "yeah, yeah, yeah, we've heard that before".  But I really think he's on the road.  Rookie of the Month is a good start!

I still haven't forgiven Mr. D. for losing Polly though.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I agree, Austin Jackson is off to a great start and it looks like he's going to be a terrific young ball player! Maybe it wasn't such a bad move, it's still early in the season though.

I'm still a Granderson fan though.

Go Get Em Tigers!
