Have you been paying attention to the changes in the search engine space? Are you ready for these changes? On Monday, Google unveiled its real-time search features. One of the features of this real-time search will be a dynamic scrolling view of updates from Twitter, Facebook, MySpace and other sources. Watch the Google video of how this works:

Google's real-time results are also pulling in other data, which includes latest updates from blogs, videos, news sites, and even images. The screen shot below shows a search on "Tiger Woods" and how some of these sources are mixed directly in on the first page of Google's search results.

Google Search Changes
If you market your Real Estate business online, you need to be aware of these changes and consider creating videos, optimize images in your content, participate in blogging, and participate in real-time social networks to stay on top.

Just about the time you think you're getting the hang of social media, it's changed. I have done a couple google searches today and did not see the scrolling updates. Must have been the keyword search or something???

Misty, thanks for the update on Google.  I tried it as well and still don't see the scrolling updates.

Hi Ruth and Nancy - from what I understand Google is still rolling out these changes to all locations so they may not be visible to you yet. The scrolling updates may also not show for all searches.  Especially if what you are searching isn't a heavily active topic on Twitter, Facebook, other social networks.

Oh fantastic, another change by Google.  Google doesn't like my websites, Yahoo likes them though.  The last thing I want included in my websearches are Twitter and Facebook garbage.  Thanks for the heads up!

Misty I have been keeping an eye out for these google "tweaks" and at times feel like playing catch up and falling behind as they sure can put out the stuff. BTW haven't seen this in my searches yet. ~Rita

This is interesting. I guess the big question is how will it affect us on AR and our websites...

Google's always changing things up, to keep ahead of people playing the system. Thanks for sharing this here! I've been recommending to my clients to use all different kinds of media to spread their presence across the web, just due to the diferent ways different people search and use the web. For people who have been doing this, I don't think the change will affect them much. But it will be interesting to see how it affects those who stick with just a static website.

Hi Misty - Hope you are well:) The other big change is Google giving your results based on your previous searches even when you are not logged in!

Hi Bill - yes that is a big one.  They talked a lot about that at pubcon along with local search results.  One of the presenters in one of the sessions showed some examples of her searching from different locations around the world while logged in and out of Google.  It was very enlightening to see how different the results were based on where she was located, what browser she was using, what she previously searched, with her deleting cookies and not deleting cookies, etc.

All of this just makes it more important to not rely on where you "think" you rank but more on what your website stats and traffic log files show.

Hi Misty, I have been telling everyone that they need to invest the same amount of time learning internet marketing as they did on all the tired old methods that dont work anymore.

Its not really that difficult with Active Rain. Everything you want to know is up here like your post for instance. Thanks for the tip!
