The Cabin at Rippon Lodge

This lovely little building is aptly named "The Cabin." It sits on the property of Rippon Lodge the oldest home in Prince William County. The property was originally part of an huge tobacco plantation that is thought to have encompassed 21,000 acres. Today the property is owned by Prince William County and is open to the public. It is just one of many terrific historical sites in the Northern Virginia area that have been preserved for everyone to enjoy.

That's a very cool building and a great picture. Any idea what the building was originally used for? Thanks for sharing!

That little cottage is so very homey. Wonder what it was originally used as....

Cindy: This is a precious little home. It looks from the exterior that Prince William County is doing a great job of maintaining it.

Looks very cool, maybe you could re-visit and get some inside shots for those of us that can't get down (or up) there.

Sweet bachlor pad!

I'd love to have one of those in my backyard. I would put a sign on the door that says "The Dog House" and inside would be a small bed, a mini fridge and a tv.

What a cute little place. It looks like it is very well maintained.

Jane-the big house is great but the little cabin is just so sweet.

Bob-thanks for stopping by. I'll show more photos of the estate in the future to give you a feel for the entire property.

Debra-George Washington used to spend time at the "big" house. My suspicion is that this was a kitchen.

Chris Ann-our area is lucky that historians finally caught on and began perserving bits of history.

Gerry-Rippon Lodge isn't to far from my house so I stop by the grounds just to wander around on a regular basis.

Jackie-I think I could hole up there for a nice long weekend.

Cindy that is such a cute building, looks like something to retreat to. I am also very happy that in my area many gems have been preserved for all to enjoy.
