Bell Tower at Riverfront Park in Spokane, WAA couple of days ago we returned from a 10 day road trip to the Pacific Northwest. I'm always ready to take a trip (well, almost always ready), and by the end, I'm usually ready to be home.

Travelling reminds me that homes are not all as outrageously priced as they are in my neck of the woods (but I try to not notice that too much). But it also reminds me of how lucky we are to live in Los Gatos, such a pretty part of such a great valley (Silicon Valley, once known as The Valley of Heart's Delight).

Today I did a post reflecting on the trip's first stretch (Silicon Valley to Spokane). I invite you to take a look at my Live in Los Gatos blog and get to know that part of the country a little better, and how it is a bit different than my part of the US.

Up here in the Pacific NW we think our prices are pretty darn high....but not compared to CA or NY.

A long trip! I traveled a similar route once - LA to the Okanagan here in British Columbia. I've traveled considerably in WA & ORA.

Happy 4th!

Steven - I'm sure you're right. An entry level single family home here is about $700,000 in San Jose, about $850,000 in Los Gatos.

Deborah - yes, it's long - but lovely!  And my kids (16 and 17) did great with it - not one complaint :)

Mary, I lived in Olympia in my senior year of high school. I've traveled up and down the coast as well as eaten smoked salmon near the Columbia River. What a fun trip.....so many beautiful places in our United States of America!!!

Deborah - thanks :)

Mana - thank you, me too!!  (Now if I can just get Willie Nelson's "On the Road Again" out of my head)

Tisza - thank you so much!  I felt like I was really letting the ball drop by taking a vacation but I did still manage to have some posts go out...whew...

Ines you are so right. I feel like Dorothy: "There's no place like home, there's no place like home..."

Teri - yes, that area is so lush and pretty. Mount Rainier, Mt St. Helen's, Mt Hood - all amazing sites too!
