Did you catch what happened yesterday with our dear friend Google? Yesterday while most of us mere mortals were sleeping, Google introduced their new "latest search results".  A few months ago I sent you a blog post called Soooo you dont use Twitter? Awesome! Atleast for your competion where I outlined some of the fantastic features about Twitter.  It was anounced shortly before I wrote the post that search engines such as Google and Bing were going to start indexing Tweets making them searchable. Taking a que from Twitter Search (I think) Google has added its latest results search. The search below is for Copenhagen where the climate summit is occuring.

Hidden within the search results you will note "Latest Results for Copenhagen", with a small box.  That little box is the new addition to Google.  Those small messages with @ infront of them are Tweets, and those gorgeous tweets are streaming live in real time into the search.  What does this mean for you?  It means that while there are literally thousands of searches for the $8000 tax credit every hour, if you use Twitter and reference the $8000 tax credit in your Tweet, your Tweet will be shown instantly in that box, if you equip your tweet with a Bit.ly or TinyURL you can effectively drive the person looking for information obout the tax credit anywhere you want to, your website, blog where ever.  If any of this sounds confusing and you are in the Phoenix Metro area, email me for a one-on-one appt and I will demonstrate how twitter can help you drive traffic to your website and/or blog.  Happy Tweets! @MyTitleGuy,

You know I am messing with you.. I tried a Google search on one of my tweets and sure enough, it was found.. I just wonder how many people will understand the power of this..   As always, the 90-10 rule applies!  I know what side I will be on.

Twitter is like the new google because Twitter lets you see searches in real time.  Pretty cool to see whats on the mind of the masses.  Now google is offering the same thing. Youre a lender so imagine this" Some guy is on google looking for an FHA loan at 6%, and you tweet in "FHA Loan at 5.5% or whatever, your search will be indexed by google and will show up as this guy is looking for an FHA loan.  You can then include a bit.ly or tinyURL to direct him right back to your website.

@Anna, absolutely!  What works for you next week to get together? I received an email from ActiveBob, he is featuring this post in the newsletter tomorrow.  Sweet! @Craig, even if you dont use twitter "YET", you should lock up your preferred username before its too late.  Im sure that there were those sceptics out there that thought Facebook wouldnt catch on also, 350 Million users later, now look.  Besides, what Twitter is today, doesnt mean it wont be something totally different 6 months from now. Thanks for your comment.

I'm coming late to the twitter party. I've had an account for over a year and just started using it (did the same thing with Facebook actually and now I LOVE it). Might have to kick it into overdrive with these new googresults.

Stephen,

this is great. When will you be in CA? :-)

Don't forgvet that some people thought the internet was a temporary fad...

Would you worry about spamming from twitter to get ranking?

Great Information. As a licensed NY home inspector (www.checkmarkservice.com) I try very hard to keep up with all of the technical changes in electronic marketing. I was trying hard not to Tweet but I guess I'll just have to add that to my "paperwork time" LOL

Terkel, I am sure thzt Google likely has figured out that spam will likely be a possibility therefore like most of it's system, it will look for fresh content, type of content, and the repetitive content (which Google does not like).  The spammers will likely see themselves doing harm to themselves.  FYI... Google will drop you in the rankings if you re-blog your blog in multiple place at one time and in the exact format..  There is a mixology that one needs to know to effectively blog, post, advertise, etc,, (ie: SEO Strategy)

Amazing how social media continues to be the catalyst of change in all the ways we communicate nearly every nanosecond. What we say on twitter stays on google and bing and then there is facebook. In the process, how we do business and live our lives is more transparent than ever. Thank you for the update. @emilymedvec

I have a Twitter account, but I don't use it very often. I've been active on Facebook, but I see that Twitter is the new "black". I better kick that into high gear as well.

So I wonder if I type in a phrase in twitter, how long before it gets picked up and displayed in the results on google?

@David, why does it matter that your title officer doesn't trust Twitter? Will he/she compensate you for the deals you could lose if you don't embrace this technology?I would say, find a new title officer, one that is open to change. A wise man once said "when the rate of change outside exceeds the rate if change inside, disaster is imminent". If you are in the Phoenix metro area, call me, I will find you a title officer that is open to change. By the way, there were plenty of people years ago that thought Google and Facebook were stupid and would fail, now those 2 companies alone are in position to take over the world, will Twitter be the 3rd? They are heading in the right direction.

Stephen,

So, if I were to Tweet once an hour on a topic, will it be considered Tweet Spam?

Will the solution be to have 2 tweet accounts - one for constant commercial messages and the other for everyday Tweets?  I can see it now, the offshore Virtual Assistants will be Tweeting constantly now, won't they?

Curious about your thoughts...

John

I think that the key to any type of marketing is honesty....for example, like when you tell your wife that you are going to be or have been cheating on her.  Or when you tell the girl who you're cheating on your wife with that you will probably cheat on her at some point in the future.  Honesty is the best policy!  MOTHERLAND!

OK, I just did my own test...complete with a Tweet...  Key phrase is "Hemet Real Estate"

The Search Results looked the same with no reference to the Tweet...

Then I clicked on the box at the top that says SHOW OPTIONS and under the first heading ALL RESULTS I chose UPDATES which opened a new screen that had 1 Tweet and one of my recent Blog Posts re-posted elsewhere...now I have got to look into that...

Just thought I'd share my results, because you definitely have me thinking right now and it wold be way cool for the UPDATE results show up on the main search page.

One client called me yesterday and I told him:

"I'm too busy with Twitter, Facebook, Active Rain, SEO for my website, etc. to talk to you. Find an agent who is not so high tech. He'll probably have time for you".

Occhi -  You are correct in being careful with spamming as Google's matrix will pick up on it and work against the spammer.  This is all basic SEO stuff.  Nothing changes except your ability to tweet instantaneously and cross into someone's search.. The key is still fresh and good content.

Katie- If you haven't heard Stephen and I are known as the dynamic duo.  We would be glad to share with you some valuable and powerful advice and tips.

David Krush- I will be the first to say that 99% of title officers don't know anything about marketing (other than postcards and flyers) let alone social media, web 2.0, SEO marketing..  Most people I speak to and try to teach this stuff to, just don't get it.  Obviously you do as I often see you online and in AR.   I would be the first one to endorse Stephen.  He is awesome!  You owe it to yourself to give him an hour of your time.

I would think this would constantly update so the next tweet that had the same topic would replace the existing tweet?  I wonder how long a tweet lives in the Google results

Very interesting! Social Media is viral even in the world of google. Realtime information is what the consumer is looking for. They want to know what the scoop is at all times. I am somewhat amazed how long it is taking all of us to catch up with all of this... me included.
