For the part of North Carolina I live in my home is in 2 counties. Franklin County and Granville County. My neighbor has a Wake Forest address and I have a Youngsville address. My home sits in Granville County but my drive way is in Franklin County. WHat does this mean? WHere do I register to vote? Where does my son go to school? When I dial 911 who will be dispatched? Zoning issues?
In the State of North Carolina you may only be taxed once.
At closing I could choose between the 2 counties of where I wanted to pay taxes. I chose Granville County .65% versus Franklin County at .99%.
When I switched my drivers license I also registered to vote again they asked me to choose between Franklin and Granville, again I chose Granville (I am paying taxes therefore I should vote in this county for the officials that can raise my taxes and spend my tax money.)
Christian my son is going to be a sophmore we moved to Wake Forest 2 years ago. Initially I was hoping to get him enrolled in Franklin Academy (Charter School located in Wake Forest anyone can attend but you must be accepted and there is a long waiting list unless you have a sibling already enrolled). Again I had the choice to choose between Cedar Creek Middle School in Franklin County or Hawley Middle School in Granville County. I went to both schools met with administrators and chose the older Hawley Middle School based on the size and principle and also because my tax dollar was going to Granville County.
I have a difficult neighbor to say the least my dog ended up on her property and tinkled on her tree she called animal control and Franlin County animal control would not even take the complaint because it was out of their jurisdiction and by the time she called Granville County animal control the incident had happened 3 weeks prior to animal control coming to my property.
I am in the process of getting a home based business approved through zoning. I had to call both Franklin County and Granville County for approval.
Confusing I know its like The Tale of 2 Counties I feel so divided but I spread my money throughout the area and sponsor local businesses in Wake Forest, Youngsville and Creedmoor.
