Winter and selling your home.

By
Real Estate Agent with Dickson Realty, Reno,NV

As I sit here in Reno after the biggest storm in years and a cold snap that feels like we are in Alaska I am thinking what a good time it is to sell during the Holidays.

Think about it, the people that are looking now are generally serious. Who else wants to look while stepping through a foot of snow and wind chill in the teens.

Your house is decorated with festive items and looks great. It is probably the best your house will look.

There is normally less competition. Most people don't want to be "bothered" by having showings during this time. You have a distinct advantage if you are willing to do so.

I have been able to be successful during the Holidays just for these reasons. So if you are serious, decorate, be willing to let the agents show your home for the serious buyer and if there is snow on the ground shovel your drive and walkways. People don't want to have to walk through snow if possible.

You are absolutely correct on this is a good time to sell. This may actually be the best time in the past 18 months and even for the foreseeable future as the FED and Treasury begin to withdraw themselves from the real estate and mortgage bond market at the end of March. By the way, welcome to ActiveRain.

I couldn't agree more.  I wrote a similar blog the other week.  Don't give up in December the serious buyers are out there and a lot of agents are taking time off.  This is the launching pad into 2010.

This is so true! Not many people are out shopping for a new home right now, so those that are, are the serious ones! I agree, this is a GREAT time to sell your home!

I agree that the holiday season is a good time to be listed for sale.   Buyers are still out there!

Buyers are defineitely out there right now in Ventura County. Low inventory is making home prices jump.
