Here is my favorite lawyer joke.  A ship capsized at sea and in one of the lifeboats was a lawyer.  The life boat drifted for days and everyone was starving.  Finall it drifted toward a deserted island but everyone could see there was food on the island.  Unfortunately the boat got stuck on a sandbar 50 feet away and the water was full of sharks.  No one wanted to try swimming to shore.  The lawyer said "No problem" and jumped into the water and swam to shore.  The sharks did not bother him.  The lawyer collected all the food possible and swam back to the boat.  Not only did the sharks not attack the lawyer but helped the him bring the food back.  The astonished passengers asked, "How did you do that?"  The lawyer replied, "Professional courtesy."
