The Police

So I get home today from St. Louis where I took in The Police concert last evening.  As you can see from the photo.  No, I wasn't bleary eyed it's just hard to get a hand held digital camera to freeze action from three sections back.  Still, I like the photo.

But what does that have to do with anything?  Anyway, I open up my email and find that Ed Rybczynski has been so kind as to MeMe me.  As I've only read more than a few meme's I will give it a go.  Here are 5 things about me that you may or may not have known;

  1. I'm a family man.  Plain and simple.  I was married very early at the age of 21.  And to this day I love my bride and that's been for the last 21 years.  I have 4 beautiful kids.  Two are natural, two are adopted.  You cannot tell the difference.  They all look like ours.  I'm a Christian.  Though I make many mistakes.  And I enjoy a night out with the guys but most times would rather have Marie with me.
  2. I love bars & music.  Since elementary school I have loved listening to music.  Rock is my favorite but you are just as likely to hear me with country, rap or classical on the radio.  If it's good and well written I like it.  (Thought I cannot stand contrived pop music, ie. Brittney Spears, Backstreet Boys, etc.)  And I love to listen to original music in bars.  I just love the atmosphere.  The camaraderie with friends.  Listening to live music at a local watering hole in Kansas City is a great Saturday night for me.
  3. I love my work.  Though I've changed careers three times I have enjoyed everyone of them.  Out of school for 9 years I was a private investigator in the DC area.  After my oldest son was born I decided less "excitement" and more structure in my life would be good.  So I used my photographic training to shoot professionally.  I have photo credits with The Washington Post and about 16 different national magazines.  I was really well known for soccer/la crosse/hockey action photos.  But when I left DC I wanted to turn photography back into a hobby.  I met a fantastic broker in Tulsa to whom I'm thankful for to this day.  Randy Lindemuth of Scott Douglas Realty.  Class guy.  Smart, too.Jayhawk
  4. Jayhawk Basketball is my passion.  Listen, I'm 42 years old and many credit hours short of graduation from the University of Kansas.  So I should be too mature to care, right?  Wrong.  I cannot get enough of my boys.  It's fun to watch them come in and mature and go on.  Some to the professional ranks and some to be doctors, attorneys and real estate agents.  It's just fun.
  5. I love Kansas City...and can't wait to move on.  Does this sound strange to you?  This is my home and the place I came back to so that I could raise my kids with good values and in a safe and inexpensive atmosphere.  But as soon as the last one graduates (she's going on 3...) Marie and I will probably be off to another town.  I like big cities.  I like the action.  The things to do.  The atmosphere.  DC was perfect for me.  But there is so much more of the world to experience.  A pastor friend of mine once told me I had wanderlust.  Upon reflection, he is right.

So there you have.  If you are a regular reader, you probably knew most of that.  Even though I write a lot about residential real estate investing I am not afraid to mix in my personal likes, dislikes and opinions.

Now, whom should I MeMe?

There are few better sporting venues on the planet than a day game at Wrigley, or a rival game at Allen Fieldhouse!

Our family will always be fans of the "Crimson & Blue!"

Great job with the meme.  It's harder to write one than it seems.

Rich - I love Lawrence.  Always have.  Go about twice a month for fun.

Midori - Thank you.  Fans?  I hope you aren't a stalker!

Ed - Thank you.  And you are correct.

Christopher - I checked back about 3-4 pages so I either missed it or didn't go back far enough.  Sorry.

Kim - it is not television.  The excitement is too much and the boredom is oh, so real. But, now that I've pooh poohed it, I wouldn't trade those years.  It was kinda cool.

Chris- what an interesting array of experience.  Hopefully, you find real estate to provide less boredom, and less danger (Marie must love the career change)- great post.

Laurie - when did you capitalize your name?  I've loved my careers.  But one didn't suit my family life.  The other didn't suit my wallet.  I don't see leaving real estate unless someone will pay me to sit in bars and listen to music.
