Google is making more changes. Oh no, you say.
And I'm really sorry to be the bearer of BAD news -- but thousands of broker and agent websites are about to get pushed off page one in a few more weeks.
Maybe it's time for a Scotch now...?

The screen shot above shows the new look of Google when it begins to index and display REAL TIME search results from Twitter and from people's wall's on Facebook.
The problem with adding this new fangled REAL TIME search results improvement to Google is that something has to give. There's just so much room on Google's Search Results Page (SERP).
So -- loosely translated, adding the new REAL TIME SEARCH Results means the websites that used to rank on page one of Google for some search terms are going to be pushed to page 2, or page 3, or page 4... so Google makes room for the above new interface.
At the risk of panicking a lot of you, I'm sorry but here's the bad news; Many of these websites like those from A la Mode, Z57, Advanced Access, Homes.com, eNeighborhoods, Real Estate Webmasters, Point2Agent and countless others... it gets more painful as your website may get banished to page 7, page 9 or page 67. The Internet equivalent of nowhere.
Those of you with websites that are Word Press driven, and others with built from scratch websites... you all stand a much better chance of staying visible or getting visible in Google if you start following the simple steps I've outline below.
What to Do (now) If Your Website (still) Sucks (and you're worried now about Google visibility)
If your website really sucked last year, and if you scoffed at how to Chirp on Twitter or how to write on someone's wall on Facebook -- that mistake may cost you dearly. Let this post be your wake up call for you to start learning how to Tweet on Twitter. For many Active Rainers, this is really really super easy. Stupid simple. No brainer. Here's what you do starting today. Step One: Go to your Preferences pane here and scroll down and you see the ActiveRain IDX panel? Good. Put a check mark in there and enter your Twitter password. Every post you make on ActiveRain will be broadcast on Twitter. Step Two: POST things that are relevant about your area and with real estate listings. If you're like Jane Paulus, then you need to post about different neighborhoods in the Twin Cities (Minneapolis) area. You have a house with a small kitchen. Ouch. It might be hard to sell, but don't worry about that tiny kitchen. Take the post and include a photo and tell people about the home. Post it to Localism, and talk about the area/neighborhood, too. Be sure to bold words about the area and THINK LIKE A GOOGLE ROBOT. Meaning, bold the words like, Minneapolis Real Estate, and Homes for sale in the Minneapolis area. Notice both links above on CLICK will take you to Jane's website. Follow these examples above. If anyone needs a bit of free coaching on what to do right now, I am in the Santa Fe office for the rest of the month. Call me. I'll do a free 15 minute consultation with you. It's my way of saying "Ho, Ho, Ho," Merry Christmas to my friends and colleagues.
