How seats belts and a childs seat saved the lives of two adults & two children ( Please read)

In the early morming 4:00 am of 12-11-2009 off of Hwy 95 between Reno and Las Vegas Nevada the driver of a VW car fell asleep at the wheel causing the car to roll over 4 times.

The car was so badly damaged that the driver could not get out of the car and the car was upside down. The mother was able to get out of the car through the broken windows and grab the children and cover them with blankets until help came. Temperatures were very cold because they were at a high elevation very close to Reno Nevada.

They were helped by a car passing by and the police were contacted. The car was totaled but the adults and there two children are all very well and lucky to be alive.

Moral of the story is please wear your seat belts and for children at very young ages please buckle them in child seats and buckle them to the car seat.

Here is a photo of the the married couple that are very close friends of ours from Burma (Myanmar).

And below is a photograph that I took of their children 2 months ago.

I would just like to say these two girls and their parents will continue to smile for us because God spared their lives and please don't be a statistic and "wear your seat belts" at all times while driving.

Thanks, Robert, for reminding us in such a personal way of our need to always buckle up. I'm thankful this beautiful family is still here, and thankful to you for the heartfelt reminder. I'm saving this to send to folks when habits get sloppy. Merry Christmas!

Wearing a seatbelt saved my life when I was 9-years-old.  I have always worn one since!

I certainly agree with your message.  After I was in a wreck where I would surely have gotten inquired a lot worse in 1992 I always wear my seat belt and after two of my children were in a really bad accident in the fall of 2005 I also would NEVER buy a car without side air bags, *one of those most likely saved my son's life.

Hi Robert - When I was 10 years old my best friend's mother was killed by a drunk driver.  I've always been very careful never to drink and drive, and of course to always wear my seat belt.  I'm so glad this beautiful family is okay!

VB - Very cute girls and I'm glad everyone is survived.  Seat belts do save lives and it kills me when I see little kids bouncing around the back seat of a moving vehicle.

I fell out of a car when I was small when it was taking a turn around the corner, luckily I wasn't hurt, but that was before seat belts.  They have saved so many lives!

Nice story Bob. I always buckle up but remember growing up in the age where seatbelts didn't exist. Amazing.

Robert, no kidding!  And there is another important component - make certain that your head rests are properly adjusted.  That saved my life once in an accident.
