I'm not a big fan of the BCS Championship Game for college football, nor the way that the two teams are chosen. I think a playoff system would be in order. After all, major college football is the only NCAA sport that doesn't let its teams play for the championship in a playoff. However, I have way too much to do to pay it too much attention. I wish our politicians had more to do, too. Afghanistan? Health care? Unemployment? Not worth the time. There is some new legislation recently approved by the Commerce and Consumer Protection Subcommittee of the House Energy and Commerce Committee that would effectively overturn college football's Bowl Championship Series. The new legislation would force the BCS to create a playoff system and bar it from referring to its big final game as the national championship. It wold also require that all conferences be considered equally in the ranking system and distribute television revenue and other income equally among all the conferences. Sounds like a good idea, but I don't think it should take precedence over the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, the economy, unemployment, health care.... you know, little things like that. At least I now know why politicians can't get anything done. It's not that they are incompetent, they just have different priorities than the rest of us.

With the current system, there are 34 winners and with a playoff there are 67 losers, Politicians should keep doing what they are good at, wasting taxpayers money and not worry about college sports.
Jim, you're right. The fact that most politicians are incompetent is only a small part of their propensity to take too long to do too little, while focusing too much on the governmentally irrelevant.
Jim,
You are certainly correct when it comes to priorities. Wars, jobs, and health care should all take precedence over football.
Brian
Another example of how completely out of touch these politicians really are!
Makes me want to shake my head and say, once again, what the heck are they thinking? Ok so it's not exactly thinking.............
Jim,
Wow, what a thought provoking post! I guess everything is about priorities.
Hey, Andrew - The only problem is that the BCS is the only NCAA sport that doesn't have a playoff system. To that I think there are about 116 losers - all the BCS schools.
Hey, Mike - Maybe if we started electing business people instead of attorneys, we'd have more readable laws, better laws, and more competence among our elected officials.
Hey, Brian - That's asking a lot, though, isn't it? LOL
Hey, Jon - Out of touch and seemingly invincible, or at least most of them think so. I've always found it interesting that polls show that no one likes politicians, except for the ones who represent them. That's why very few incumbents ever get defeated. Your politician is a scoundrel, but mine's okay.
Hey, Anna - There's the problem. They are not thinking, or not thinking clearly.
Hey, Carra - Yet we continue to wonder why politicians have such interesting priorities that don't seem to mesh with their constituents.
