Remember the Fallen
Honor those who Serve
Teach the Value of Freedom to Our Children

Those words are the mission of the Wreaths Across America Project

Wreaths Across America

Arlington Cemetery 2009

Yesterday on a cold Virginia morning thousands of volunteers from across the country arrived in one spot to honor our fallen heros.  For the last 18 years the Wreaths Across America project has made sure that soliders buried at Arlington Cemetery are remembered during the holidays.

My spot for laying wreaths was in a quiet section of Arlington Cemetery, Section 60 close to the Columbarium.  A contingent of police from Portland Maine were there as well as hundreds of soliders who were honoring their colleagues.

If you want to learn more about the project you can go to Wreath Across America Project.

Cindy, TY for the reminder.  Having visited Arlington this past year and seeingthe changing of the guard was one of the most sobering things that I have ever witnessed.  Should be a required visit to everyone that claims to be an American!!!

Cindy as always you show that when it comes to supporting the military that you not only talk to the talk but you walk the walk as well.  I know how difficult it is for you to make the trip to Arlington Cemetery.  Thanks for getting up and out to support the fallen and their families.

Coming from a military family, these photos bring back a number of memories.  My brother and father are too far away for me to pay tribute to their graves.

Cindy,

What a great project. Really great pictures, too. I think it's easy to forget how much the military does for us. Sounds like a wonderful way to pay tribute to fallen heroes.

This is amazing. I re-blogged another post someone wrote that showed the snow on the ground, with the wreaths and bows, and the story behind it all. I can't believe the media doesn't publicize this!
