Thanks for the interesting report. Our local board says 93% of buyers look online before contacting a Realtor. I don't think they take into consideration the number of people who use their personal network initially. Great stats!

Cheers!

Betina, Thank you! I'm sure there can be variations in the Hyper-local markets.

Good Speed,

I dumped Homes magazine two or three years ago and replaced it with internet marketing. I think the 32% for internet is too low.

Rich,  I think the metroplexes could well have higher numbers for Internet search results and rural areas with dial up speeds could be lower.  Overall I've only seen the survey results indicate increasing numbers for the use of Internet for real estate shopping.  The decreasing sales for newspapers is a pretty good indication of the direction of print in general.

Hey, Steve - Your graph title about first source of information can be totally different from where they found their home. I think it's a no-brainer that most people start their search on the Internet because most people probably come home from work and during their evening meal think about moving. The only thing open at that time of night is the Internet. But they could be searching for a home, a Realtor, or just looking around. When they actually find their Realtor, it would not surprise me that the Realtor helped them look at other homes that weren't on the Internet yet. As we see with politics, it's all in how you ask the question.

Happy Holidays!

Jim,  I'm not sure I follow?  I believe what the NAR survey results suggest is these are the sources where Buyers first made the connection with their purchase.  Merry Christmas!
