It takes a little bit of time, but I have found online that there are quite a few rebate programs out there for making your home more energy efficient.  There also may be tax credits.  One source is www.energystar.gov  Even something simple like a programmable thermostat, you can get $25 back for, up to 2 per home.  You have to go to one site if your home is heated by natural gas and a different site if it is heated by propane or oil.  Most of the utility companies have links on their sites as well.

More people need to know about all of these rebates and tax credits.  I'm sure more would take advantage if they were aware.
