The North Georgia Mountains offer great opportunities for hiking, camping and pure recreation .  Whether you want to be in the high country, near a lake or rushing creek, or cascading waterfalls , North Georgia has it all!

Lake Blue Ridge, Camping, Hiking, Cohutta, Ellijay, North Georgia, Real Estate, Morganton

Take for example Lake Blue Ridge , located in Fannin County Georgia.  This lake is a pristine 3300 acre lake with over 100 miles of shoreline.  Camping by the lake provides a cool mountain retreat.  Lake Blue Ridge campground is designated as day use only but there is Morganton Point on the lake for overnight camping with 37 campsites, tent pads, picnic tables and drinking water.

How about the Cohutta Wilderness?  Located northeast of Ellijay, Gilmer County, The Cohutta is filled with trailside camping to campgrounds.  Camping in this area is very primitive.  Try to use a previous campsite rather than create a new one in order to preserve the forest.  More primitive trailside camping can be found on the Appalachian and Benton MacKaye Trails that is a 50 mile stretch from the Cohuttas to Blue Ridge.

Need hiking or camping equipment?  Visit  North Georgia Mountain Outfitters.  This store is a full-service retailer for all your hiking and camping needs.  Plus, you can get some great information about trails, lakes, creeks and waterfalls.

Take a hike!  Unwind and enjoy the cool, crisp, clean mountain air.  Please be responsible and respectful of our mountains.  Clean up all litter and trash even if you are not the one who made the mess so that we all can continue to enjoy nature's best.  I hope you have the time of your life!

Donna, North Georgia looks like a great place to visit. We love living in the Daytona Beach area but I love to visit the mountains. It seems like people who live near the shore want to migrate to the mountains and vice versa. I am not the camping type but Lake Blue Ridge is beautiful!
