It's never easy when you are forced out of the familiarity of your comfort zone to face the unknown. Fear and apprehension are often associated with facing adjustments in the way we conduct our business.
But when faced with these challenges, we only have two options. One is to give it a go and the other is just to give up.
I have always believed that it is better to try something new and fail than it is to not try at all. And while new policies, procedures, and methods might seem overwhelming at first, only time will tell if the changes are for the better and will ultimately result in more business opportunities.
And that's a chance worth taking!

Hi Richard...How much better to give change a chance than to fear it. Life and all of its components are the better for it.
Without change there is no progress.
Kate
Taking a chance is key to succeeding in life. You may not succeed but you will discover a better path.
Kate...
I agree completely. Thanks so much for the comment!
Gary...
You just never know how things will turn out, Thanks.
Hi Richard - Can I use a simile? Life is like a river...always flowing, always changing. Without change, the river becomes stagnant. Life IS about embracing change. Thanks for the thought provoking post.
Hi Richard: Your post reminded me of the saying that when life gives you lemons --> make lemonade.
:)
Richard, as I was reading this I couldn't help but wonder what change is underfoot... I'm just sayin...
Although I would tell you that I am a free spirit who embraces change, that may not really be the case. I find that the older I get the less I enjoy it. But putting yourself out there, embracing change can lead to such wonderful things. And if you don't try, you will never know.
I would rather swing away in a fight that I knew I was going to lose than give up and walk away. So when it comes to having a chance that things will work out, you can count me in. A little unfamiliarity in life can keep things interesting.
Change is always scary but how does the saying go? "Nothing ventured, nothing gained?" I'd rather venture and take my chances.
I'll be "trying" some new things in 2010. I'm still formulating the plan though. I just know I'll be making some changes. I'll blog about it as soon as I have a strong plan in place =)
2010 will be a very big year for change - particularly with two main service industrys - Lenders and title/settlement companies. The new Truth in Lending Laws and HUDS & combined with the effects of HVCC and Red Flags laws will take all of us down the road of "NEW". Put on your seatbeats - it's going to be a bumpy ride.
Richard~
The winds of change can bring opportunity, possibility...and sometimes they are biting. Thanks for your post...another reason why I subscribe to your BLOG>

Richard, If we constantly stay in our comfort zone, we will never grow...
Helping you live your American dream...
Hi Richard,
I think Michael has a point..if we constantly stay in our comfort zone, we never grow. Cathy is right 2010 will bring a multitude of change. We will all weather it together! Change does offer two options: give it a go or let it give it up. I'm with you never hurts to learn something new in life..it might be the best thing you have ever done.
Richard, thanks for this post. It's very timely for me as we are contemplating some pretty big changes.
Richard...I've always beleived that change is really good....as long as you change for the best! Have a great day!
Change is simply a transition and it is usuallay because the status quo is not satisfactory. And yes, it may be for the better, but it maybe for the worse.
Changing just because you want something different may fail and often fails without a clear understanding where you want to be and how you get there, whic involves more than "wishes"
It is one thing to hop from one business model to annother in search of golden egg and whine that nothing works. It is another to change our ways because the circumstances change. That we see a lot and will see a lot more. Actually that is always the case, maybe just these changes are coming at us faster
