Want to Literally Live at the Top of Austin? Meet The Austonian!

The AustonianDowntown Austin: The Austonian is Austin's newest, tallest skyscraper, putting the novelty of the former-tallest building, the Frost Bank Tower, to complete shame (though I still like how the Frost Bank Tower looks like an owl if you stare at it a certain way).  It even rivals the height of Mount Bonnell, Austin's tallest "mountain".

It is the part of the trend of Austin becoming a major world-class city and changes the view of the city sky-line considerably.  But, unlike other recently built sky-scrapers in the Downtown area, the Austonian is primarily residential.  If you're lucky enough, you could live at the top of the tallest building in Austin, with an amazing view no matter which direction you might be facing.  Even better is the fact that the Austonian is walking distance to amazing night life on 6th street, or scenic views on Lady Bird Lake, or even the bats from the South Congress Bridge.

Just like the unbeatable location, the Austonian also has unbeatable amenities.  On the 56th floor there is a fitness center with state of the art equipment such as personal TVs on every cardio machine and a killer view of Austin.  On the 55th floor there's "The Austonian Club" where residents are able to utilize the 6,000 square foot area to entertain guests.  The first floor has planned retail and restaurants which haven't been announced yet, but promise to be a great addition to Downtown Austin as well as insanely convenient for anybody that happens to live in The Austonian.  And get this: from your in home touch screen, you can reserve use of The Austonian's media room, which features a Grand Cinema ceiling mounted HD projector, Parasound Surround Sound System (the choice of Pixar and Lucasfilm), leather stadium style seating for 12, a wireless tablet to control the movie and climate of the room from your seat, and a draper 133-inch HDTV viewing screen, which is ceiling-mounted and motorized.

And lest we forget, The Austonian has some amazing features to the living units themselves.  There are 18 different floor plans to fit different budgets, family sizes and lifestyles.  The size of these floor plans range from just over 1,200 square feet on the lower levels to over 4,000 square feet on the higher levels.  Each home features marble baths, hardwood floors, panoramic views, inset balconies, limestone and marble counter tops, solar shades and recessed lighting.  The kitchen features Miele coffee makers and dishwashers, Italian cabinetry, Sub-Zero refrigerators, Wolf ranges and Dornbracht kitchen fixtures.  HOA fees are $.64 per square foot.  There is 24 valet available for residents and their guests, as well as a 24 hour concierge.

The Austonian is still under construction, so prices are lower now than they will be once construction is complete.

Interesting, I had no idea there was (or will soon be) anything like this in Austin.  Only been there once myself and absolutely loved it. Looks like things are-a-changin in Austin.

Austin's population is still doubling every 15-20 years, and we're running out of space downtown. The only way is up!
