North Idaho Arts & Adventure December 17, 2009
Yesterday, Tuesday December 17, 2009, my interviews were as diverse as the colors of the rainbow.
I host two radio shows: North Idaho Business and North Idaho Arts & Adventure. Both shows are broadcast, right after Rush, on KSPT 1400 AM in Sandpoint and KBFI 1450 AM in Bonners Ferry on Tuesdays. This is the fifth year I have been doing the shows and I have interviewed almost two hundred local leaders, artists, politicians, characters, and every walk of life in North Idaho.
My first interview on the arts show was with Francesca and Brian from Land of Peace. They were promoting their idea for a new international peace symbol. While to many they may have seemed a bit out there, the symbol was cool. It was several circles, reminiscent of the ones of multicolor like in the symbol for the Olympics. The circles joined one and other, making another circle, which all in turn were within another circle.
It was pretty, and made sense. It may catch on, and their hope is that it will replace the old peace symbol. I am not as sure. One of the reasons the original 1960s icon caught on so well was its ease of being hand-drawn by virtually anyone. This new idea has to have varied colors (maybe not) and is a bit more advanced than the average person can easily put on paper.
Still, their concept is to start a new peace movement.
Here is their website: http://landofpeaceidaho.com/
They are having a big bonfire and spiritual outing this weekend. Check out the Newsletter tab to find out more.
Next Karin from the new Sandpoint Music Conservatory appeared on the show. The conservatory teaches piano, violin, voice, and is the first of its kind in Sandpoint. They currently have about 35 students of all ages. I volunteered to create and host a website for them. Least I can do for such a noble effort.
Last on the show was Scott and Pamela Brownlee of the Rockin B Ranch Dinner Show in Liberty Lake. They
were a charming couple who met while studying music in college. Their show is a rootin', tootin' shoot ‘em up show with cowboy music complete with barbeque. Can't wait to see the show.
Scott still teaches at UCLA, and Pamela is retired up here in North Idaho full time.
I hope to have them on, singing some of their songs, on our June 8th show in 2010.
