Investing in the Now

Today I sit before you in awe that the year 2010 begins in less than two weeks.  That the first decade of the twenty-first century is nearly text in a history book.  I turned a young 29 yesterday and it seems the older I get, the faster time accelerates.

We look forward to the future everyday, yet so much as we are caught up in planning the future do we forget to live in the now.  Right now, you are reading these words that I've typed.  You are learning, discovering and building your own ideas and innovations.

You are likely ahead of the curve because you are investing in the now.  To stay ahead, you must continue to invest your focus on the now.

The people who aren't ahead of the curve likely aren't investing much into the now.  They may plan great things or have great ideas, yet somehow making the decision right now to build or finish their ideas slips them by.  Don't fall into this trap.  Take responsibility for yourself in the now and focus your efforts on doing the work required to complete the project at hand.

Each of us has twenty-four hours in a day.  What will you do with the gift of time you have been given?

Unfortunately we can't relocate the earth in relation to the sun.   Maybe if we lived on a Super-Earth time would move slower ;-)

Hi Chris~  Nice post as always!  I laughed when you say the older you get the faster time seems to go.  Isn't it so true!  I only laugh because I think that more and more each year!  This year just flew by!  It is amazing that "10 years have got behind you; no one told you when to run; you missed the starting gun..." (Time ~ one of my all time favorite Pink Floyd songs).  It does just seem like yesterday that people were worried about the new millennium.  Remember Y2K fears?  Ha!  It's amazing how 10 years have got behind us!  Great question to end with...if each of us has 24 hrs in a day, what will we do with the gift of time we've been given?

Wait until you get to my age if you think time is flying by at 29.  Happy birthday, by the way and, yes, live every moment and never procrastinate.

Chris, good advice for everyone!  I started investing around age 21 when I got my first real full time job.  It's the smartest thing anyone can do for themselves and their future.

Chris ~ Ahhh TIME = Things I Must Earn.  When I was a teenager I couldn't wait to be 18.  In my twenties and early thirties I couldn't wait until the days would end.  It wasn't until I was enlighten about Life and Living it that I now don't want the days to end.  I really do try to live One Day at a Time and Each Day is a New Beginning.
