WOLF sighting in Maywood NJ !!!!!!

Yes it' true !

Today - about noon, I happened to be looking out our living room window, and saw what originally looked like a large beige dog - but after I took a double take - it was in fact -  A WOLF !!!!!!

I kid you not !!!

And when we ran to the door - with my son Spencer completely overwhelmed with excitement that a real live WOLF was in our neighborhood - we confirmed our thoughts, when 20 other neighbors were also outside on their lawns, having also caught a glimpse, and ALL had said - "wait a minute, that looked like a wolf" !!!!

It jogged off up the street leaving all of us neighbors with our jaws hitting the floor - in suburban Bergen County you dont expect to see 'wolves' on your doorstep ! It didnt even run like a dog, and for sure its longer snout was different. Unfortunately it ran off before I could grab my camera, but it actually looked exactly like this one.

So that was our excitement for the day so far ... but let me let my son Spencer tell you about it !!!

Sheldon, I wouldn't be all that excited about haveing a wolf roam in my yard, especially not with cuties like Spencer nearby.  His AR video debut was great and he's adorable.

I'm not sure if I'd be excited or concerned ... Cool, yet alarming.

Sheldon - Never leave home with out it... the camera that is... lol

I'm pretty sure what you guys saw was a coyote... We do have them around here on occasion as well as black bears... I would kind of find it a little hard to believe that it was a wolf though... Oh, if you only had your camera.... Proof is in the pudding....... Now to go out and shovel... have a Happy my friend...

Sheldon....I haven't seen a wolf...but, my husband saw a bear cub (which at first he thought was a dog), running in our back yard.  Never saw the mother bear, but the cub was captured in town doing through trash and was released in the wild.

Your son, Spencer, is soooo cute.  Merry Christmas,

Sheldon:  Great little clip of Spencer.  My favorite part is when he said the wolf looked "brown."  Short, sweet and to the point.

You are such a riot, Sheldon. And your son, Spencer, is simply delightful. I don't know, though, if I'd go outside running to catch up with a wolf. Oh, who am I kidding? I stomp my feet at skunks in the yard.

WOW Sheldon, that is truly exciting!  I hope he returns to "the wild" as it doesn't  seem like he should be in the neighborhood!  How exciting for Spencer, too, he will tell the story of the Christmas wolff for many years.   Such a cute video, I really enjoyed it.  Merry Christmas to you and your family, Sheldon!

O.K. I would never have ventured out if it was a wolf as a wolf in my back yard would scare me. Around here we see the occasional coyote which scares me too! Great video.

I have a friend that actually has one as a pet. For as long as I have known him (over 20 yeasr) he has had one or two as a pet. Im not recommending it to anyone, but they are pretty awesome.

Oh boy a Wolf in the area.  Might look nice but I don't want to see it up close walking down my street...

BTW- I did a video with my son not too long ago it was a great bonding experience.  I think he now either wants to be a director or an actor when he "grows up"

Hi Sheldon, I had to come back. In August, there was something in the news about a person who had lost 5 wolf-hybrids near you. Three had been found at the time the article was posted. Maybe one got out again? I don't think they are dangerous, but maybe someone has lost their "pet" - Although, I don't think they make very good pets either.....

A wolf, wow that is exciting....I'm not sure how far out my door I'd be going to take a look at it, but that is something.  Your son was so animated...he did a great job on camera:)

Hi Sheldon, are you sure it wasn't a coyote? They look very similar to the smaller timberwolves, but are less afraid of venturing into urban areas. Either way, just be very careful with children. All you need is to read this article to realize it can be a serious matter.

Spencer looks so much like you, my friend.  Poor kid;)

I've always been fascinated by wolves and have only seen a few from a great distance.

OK, first of all, your son doesn't speak British, LOL. How do you communicate?

Next, what were you thinking running outside to see the nice wolf? You nutz? LOL. I'm just sayin....

Oh my gosh, Sheldon.  Spencer looks like a miniature version of you.  He's adorable!  When you asked him what the wolf looked like, I swear I thought I heard him say "Rowr" (as in roar), not "brown".  Too cute.  It's OK that you didn't get the wolf on camera.  You got the cub on video just fine and he's much cuter than any wolf could have been.  :)
